PTI Blog Hop-Jan

JANUARY 2016

Click on photo for more details

As you can see, I was mostly influenced by the colors (4 different shades of turquoise, orange, kraft, white, black) of the inspiration photo on Nichole's Blog, but I used textured card stock on my Song Bird dies and that's a hexagon embossing folder by Momenta on the White background panel.  The kraft flower is a felt strip that I saved from something that was shipped to me a while ago ;-)

I am working on a new computer with the very new to me Windows 10  ~ the old familiar computer crashed last week :(
I have a computer-fix-it-dude coming but not til another 10-14 days.  Sorry my posts are going to be sparse til I can figure out how/where/when everything is or when my "old" files get transferred over.
In the meantime, if you  email me or leave a comment with any questions about my cards and I will get back to you that way.

MIM 237

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
MATCHBOOK VALENTINES

I'm joining Lexi as she shares tips and tricks for making the cutest matchbook Valentines.  This would be a really fun project to do with the kids or grandkids for school treats like Lexi shows in her video.
I made a matchbook "hello" tag with a tea bag tucked inside to go with a China Tea Cup gift I am giving to a neighbor  :-)

The Beautiful Butterfly die was cut out of designer paper called Southern Charm from Recollections  (perfect, right!), I used gold foil for the antennae.  The  Swoosh 'hello' is die cut from a pretty pink card stock.  I used a Sizzix embossing folder "Leaves" on the matchbook cover Stamper's Select White cardstock.

Edited:  The new photo taken this AM has a shadow from the sun, but at least the color is right now :-)

Create Along-Jan 2016

CREATE ALONG WITH US

JANUARY 2016

I think is it fabulous when we get to "Create Along" with the PTI design team. Don't you?
I love the new Butterfly Inspiration cover plate ~ have to have it!   So, of course my card is as close as I could come to Nichole Heady's gorgeous Ombre Butterfly Thank You card from Day 3 of the January Release.  I plan to CASE a few of the DT cards for at least 5 birthdays coming up ;-)

My Card ~
Stamper's Select White is used as my card base and the filigree butterfly punched out butterflies.
Beautiful Butterflies were die cut in turquoise, aqua and green card
stocks and popped up with double sided tape.
Swoosh Birthday die is True Black card stock.
I started adding bling, ribbons, twine, etc. but decided to keep it less bulky for mailing.

MAKE IT MONDAY

 2015 A la carte

As 2015 comes to an end, Nichole and the Design Team are providing a summary of all 40 MIM videos  posted in 2015, allowing us to choose a technique or challenge we might have missed.
I did not miss any last year, but there are several I have repeated throughout the year.  I always enjoy learning something new with the MIM challenges and love that we can go back over the past year for this week's a la carte :-)

I went with Laurie's  MIM #217,  Creating Custom Borders.  My "border" is created with Beautiful Butterflies wings.

MAKE IT MONDAY

 Adding Color to Stamped Images

Laurie  is up on MIM this week and she shares her tips for adding additional color to stamped images with colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits (also known as Gamsol).   We can use the color medium of our choice (i.e. colored pencils, markers, crayons, watercolor, etc.)

I colored one sprig of Bird Song leaves with a colored pencil, then washed over it with with a watercolor brush.  Did the same with the top layer Beautiful Butterfly.  I used white embossing powder to the Butterfly Layer on the body and the antennae is black felt.  The Swoosh 'thanks' is True Black cardstock.

There is a silver foil Butterfly under the white colored one.  The turquoise leaves under my pencil colored ones were cut from solid DP. The Sizzix EF is called Daisy Blast, which kinda reminds me of fireworks for my January Thank You card ;-)
