MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
DIAMOND WALLPAPER STAMPING

If you haven't watched the wonderful video from the talented Miss Ashley (and listened to her sweet baby in the background ;-) ...
go now!

I needed another August b-day card for my friend's husband and (of course) wanted to enter another card in MIM's challenge this week.
This is what I came up with.

I found the background stamp in my cabinet full of (oh-so-neglected) wood block stamps.  It is called "Biased Stripe by Cornish Heritage Farms. The image is actually diagonal stripes that I turned and stamped a second time to create the diamond wallpaper.

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
DIAMOND WALLPAPER STAMPING

Ashley is up at MIM this week ~ check out her video HERE

I wasn't sure what I was going to do for a "diamond" background stamp, but started this gift bag hanging tag yesterday and it had an  argyle embossing folder as a backround for my giraffe pull toy.
So, all I had to do was add that little heart stamp in contrasting colors and my MIM entry came about.

MIM #173

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
NO OUTLINE WATERCOLOR

Another month approaching and that means more  birthday cards. I may have mentioned once or twice that I really love water coloring ;-)  That's what this week's MIM challenge is all about...no outline watercoloring.  If you check out the video where Heather demonstrates how to do this, you will love it too.

Click on the photo for more details
I  started out thinking this would be a masculine b-day card, but ended up with lots of pastel colors, so it's probably not going to the person I originally intended it for.  Oh well, back to the drawing (or painting) board.

PTI Blog Hop

PAPERTREY INK CHALLENGE
JULY 2014 BLOG HOP

This last card is picking up the distressed green paper in the background inspiration photo and the bunch of Posies on the doily.   The colors are really very close in real life but this night time photo with bad lighting and shadows doesn't show that :-(
I will retake the picture in daylight.

PTI Stamper's Select White is the base card
Stamps are PTI's Rosie Posie and Boutique Borders: Birthday

Green distress paper is from Basic Grey 'Gypsy' paper pad
Jute Twine is used for the flower stems

Hope you had a good time Hopping today, I still have to check out all the beautiful entries ~

JULY 2014 BLOG HOP CHALLENGE

The July inspiration photo is full of "Homemade" crafty goodness.  There are so many possible card creations here.
For my card, I chose the bird in the photo along with the stitching on my ribbon, the Cuttlbug Embossing on the PTI Stamper's Select base cardstock looks like stitch lines too and of course the colors of Aqua, Red and White. The PTI sentiment is from Beautiful Butterflies.

MIM 173

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
NO OUTLINE WATERCOLOR
Okay, you just have to stop by PTI to see this video Heather put together on "no outline watercoloring" images.  This technique produces such a beautiful effect. I have not tried this before, although I have seen it ~ just thought it was way too difficult.
But, seeing as it's a MIM challenge, well I had to give it a try, no?
I stamped the flower in a pale grey ink then used  raspberry, green lime and shimmery silver re-inkers to create the watercolor look.

I used a single hydrangea flower stamp from Anna Griffin.
The card panel is from PTI~Stamper's Select White
The sentiment is from PTI~Beautiful Butterflies
I laced some thin sheer pink ribbon through the holes in the border punch on top of the green panel underneath.

RAINBOW MEDALLION

You can still link up to MIM for this week.
This card is going out with a hand written note ~ yep, I still write 'em :-)
My rainbow stamp is from PTI's Spiral Bouquet.  Not sure you can tell, but the background base card is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder "Script" in keeping with my Keep In Touch theme here.

VIRGINIA'S VIEW ~ CHALLENGE #5
DIE CUTS

If you haven't been to visit Virginia's View Challenges yet, you are probably the last living blogger who has not ;-) Go, check it out now!
I have already entered a couple of cards because I am crazy about everything die cut ~ so much easier than fussy cutting images, no?
Anywho, I made a thank you card for a dear friend for a birthday gift she gave me last week and just had to share.  The gift bag full of crafty goodness included this oh-too-darn-cute "Spring Tree Frame" die from Cottage Cutz..

Click on photo for more details

The owl is a sticker (a page of 'em in the gift bag) which is embellished with googlie eyes and sitting on a swing I made with a cork seat attached to the tree limb with embroidery floss.
The note tacked to the tree trunk with a tiny brad is the smallest "Scalloped Square" from Spellbinders Nestabilities (yep, in the gift bag).  Thanks for peeking in on my blog...
And a huge thanks to Virginia for hosting these FABULOUS challenges :-)

MAKE IT MONDAY #172
Rainbow Medallions

Dawn has created a pretty card on today's MIM Video, check it out HERE.
At first I thought I didn't have any stamps this effect would look good with...then I looked through my CD Cases of PTI stamps and found endless possibilities~you've been warned!   :-)

Click on photo for more details, but not too closely because you will see the ink smudges I made when bringing the card out to the patio  for picture taking.  Ugghhhhh!

The most time consumed creating this card was cleaning off the stamp after each inking. Other than that, it was a very simple process .
This pretty stamp is from "Embellishments" and the sentiment is from "Beautiful Butterflies"

I am sending this card filled with many prayers to my friend, Betty in MA.  Her cancer is in remission, but she was in the hospital (again) for a couple of days because of some infection :-(

Virginia's View - Challenge #5

VIRGINIA'S VIEW

I had to enter an Anniversary card I made for friends celebrating Thirty Years together in Virginia's Die Cut Challenge.  There are a couple of die cuts going on here:  the number 30, the heart and the pink/white striped Sissix Tim Holtz "Baroque" shape die.  Plus I love the daisies in the inspiration photo ;-)
I made this same card for another couple, but was not sure of the number of years they were married, so everything was identical except for adding the 3-0 on this one.
I think I can make a few more cards with this design (maybe change up the color scheme) and just add the age or anniversary or graduation year or...whatever number occasion.
The only stamp I used here is the sentiment, so that is easily changed, huh?

MAKE IT MONDAY #171
POP UP DIE CUTS

Betsy's video HERE shows a die cut technique where you partially cut a die to make parts of it  pop up  on your card or project --- pretty cool, eh?  Betsy created a lovely card with the new Life Is Beautiful butterfly die. I don't have that set (yet), so I used my old standby Beautiful Butterflies, which I still love and use a lot.
