PTI - Create Along

Create Along With Us: December 2015

During Release week each month, Nichole has started this challenge taking the place of Make It Monday, that allows us to select something the amazing PTI design team has created which inspired us and create our own version.  This project could use a color scheme, a technique and/or revisit an older stamp/die set.  Sound like fun?  I think so too ;-)

   How sweet is Nichole's card?

I really love this new floral set that Maile designed.  Here is my card using Nichole's beautiful sample above.

Day 1-Card 1

The Cuttlebug EF-Snowflakes panel is more chartreuse IRL and the felt snowman is not so neon, but I took this photo in the bright sunlight out by my pool and had to hurry so it didn't fall into the water when a little breeze blew through :-)

MAKE IT MONDAY
SPLATTERING

Danielle shares her tips for the splattering technique on this week's MIM Challenge.  Watch HERE to see how easy she makes it look with her beautiful gift tags.

I have a tendency to 'over-do' sometimes (okay, it's more like all the time) so I really concentrated on splattering enough ink to look like snowfall and not a blizzard on this card.

Click on photo for more details

My Card ~ This one's for you, Marcia H  ;-)

* PTI Song Birds dies are cut from textured aqua cs from Bazzill and mounted on blue glitter foam, then hot clued onto red glitzy  ribbon from the Dollar Tree. The leaves are cut from red foil and some are lifted up for (more) dimension.
* Tim Holtz "Christmas Background" is embossed onto PTI Stamper's Select White cardstock.
* The splattered shimmery ink is Summer Sky from Imagine Crafts

I went to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving this year, brought my iPad, but didn't have much time to use it.  So, gone for a week has put me waaaay behind on commenting.  Slowly but surely, I promise to make it by your Blogs to catch up ... you all have been very busy!  :-)

PTI Blog Hop - November

November 2015

This month's inspiration photo is just gorgeous, don't you agree?
I wanted to duplicate the beautiful shiny colored ornaments, sparkly ferns and bring in the pretty silver and white on white.

Click on photo for more details

The ornaments are from Spellbinders and die cut from Shimmery Papers and tied to the tree branch with silver thread.  The sentiment is from PTI's Fall Elegance stamped in silver onto Sizzix Baroque panel cut from PTI's Stampers Select White card stock.

Have a great day hopping along :-)

Layered Stamping on Kraft

Check out this week's MIM and join Dawn McVey as she shows how to get bright, fun colors when stamping on kraft card stock HERE.

In my humble opinion, Dawn can do no wrong with her beautiful color combinations.  So this week I am playing along with the challenge and learning how to stamp vibrant color images on kraft cardstock.  :-)

I used stamps from Song Birds, Beautiful Butterflies and Beautiful Butterflies Layers for building my motif design.

The embossing folder on the base card is Lifestyle Crafts and the enamel heart in the center is from Chickaniddy Crafts.

MAKE IT MONDAY
Cover Plate Water-coloring

Ashley  is up this week on the Make It Monday Challenge. She shares how to use Cover Plate dies as a stencil to create water-colored card designs. You can view her video HERE.

Sorry for the nighttime photo.  My card is much prettier in daylight.
The base card and stamped panel are cream colored and the framed panel is a rustic orange cardstock.
I used the negative die cut of the leaves from Song Birds to paint my leafy branch in reds, oranges and yellow watercolor.  the Bird is dark brown and the sentiment from Fall Elegance is inked in chocolate brown.  There is some gold thread nested under the bird.

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE

Fabric Strip Christmas Trees

This week, Melissa Phillips is up on MIM and she's got a fun use for fabric and ribbon scraps for paper-crafted holiday cards!

Check out her beautiful card and video HERE.

Click on photo for more details
I didn't have a pretty straw with stripes or polka dots and thought instead of buying some I would use something I already had for my tree trunk.  Remember the Popsicle sticks we needed for SAF?  :-)
I inked up my Wood Grain stamp in chocolate brown ink and stamped it onto the trunk (stick).  Added a bunch of ribbons, lace and scraps of material to create the branches like Melissa shows us, but my tree trimming skills are not so good. The topper is a silver glittery snow flake with a pearl glued to the center.

I used part of the "Enjoy" sentiment stamp from PTI's Spiral Bouquet for the Christmas "joy" and the base cardstock is PTI Rustic Cream.

PTI Blog Hop-October

PAPERTREY INK BLOG HOP
OCTOBER 2015

 Blog Hop Inspiration photo
Isn't this the most festive inspiration?  The red and green paired together really gets the Christmas creativity flowing for me!
Our challenge is to keep it simple and just work from the color scheme, or work in some greenery or leaves along with some red ribbon/twine.

That's what I think I accomplished with my Song Birds musical stamp in forest green and the Bird and Leaf dies in red, green and white.  Added the red twine around the dark green base card.

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE

FOCAL CLUSTERS

This week I will join Lexi as she shows us several ways to create focal clusters with smaller images and sentiment stamps.  Watch her video HEREI, for one,  have a bunch of those tiny stamps that I don't quite know what to do with.  So this MIM is very helpful.

The card I created, however, does not have a lot of tiny stamps, instead I went with a couple of stamps/dies as my "focal cluster" with white space all around on this Birthday card for a sweet granddaughter turning 13 this year. :-)

Create Along-October 2015

October 2015
This challenge over at Papertrey Ink allows us to select something that the amazing Design Team has created during the October Release that we find inspiring.  We can then CASE a project using one of their color schemes, techniques or design with an older PTI set.  Pretty cool, huh?

I chose one of Dawn McVey's cards to copy, using her color scheme for this card.  Haven't decided where this one is going yet, so no sentiment was added :-)

  •  Kraft panel on top is die cut from Spellbinders Labels Eight

Creating With Stripes

Today I am joining Laurie as she shows us a variety of ways to use stripes in our card making.  Follow along on her video HERE to see how easy she makes it look  ;-)

Click on photo for more details

I stamped the striped woodblock stamp in burnt orange ink first, then tried to stamp in between the lines (which look stanted :) in gold glitter embossing. I kinda liked the 'mishap' so this is how it stayed and will be mailed out for a friend's Birthday this week.

* Cardstock:
Base card and stamped panel - PTI Stamper's Select White
Lemon Custard polka dot embossed - Bazzill Basics
* Dies:
Cake Plate and Birthday Trio die - PTI

MIM #225

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
Die Cut Shaped Boxes

This week, Ashley  is up on Make It Monday.  She has a video HERE, which shows us how to use dies to transform them into treat boxes!
Okay, I tried this a couple of times and thought, "Maybe I should skip this MIM challenge, even though I have entered 224 others!"
Well... "Noooo", my stubborn self said and I persevered until I created this:
Click on photo to see more details

Please forgive the poor quality, color distorted, inside picture.

  • I used PTI Stamper's Select White card stock and cut out 2 Spellbinder's Lacey Squares.
  • Stamped the front with PTI "Fall Elegance" pumpkins then fussy cut two that are popped on top of the card base ones.
  • The grass is cut from a pp sheet and adhered to make this look like a pumpkin patch. There is also grass on the sides hiding some tape  :-)
  •  The sides and bottom pieces (which were not-so-easy to attach) are Burnt Orange cardstock
  • The crinkle grass inside is dark green (not black).
It looks much cuter in real life and I'll try to get a better pic in the AM.

I stamped the coffee mugs on white card stock with Pearlescent Orange ink and fussy cut it to pop onto the stamped image which I added the Copper glitter  creating hot steaming coffee.
The base card is Orange card stock and the multi-color stripe down the side is from a piece of junk mail :)

Added the wood veneer hearts to cover the snow flakes on the Gina K Design mugs image, and the glittery leaf with buttons for Fall are from my stash.

Off to catch up on my hopping and commenting.

Card 6
Love the free digi download sentiment/togo cup is from
Verve Stamps ~ so very sweet of this Super Sponsor.  Thank You!

  • The panels are Spellbinder's Labels Two dies

  •  There's another sweet wood veneer heart from American Crafts
  •  Can you see the gold thread behind the To-Go cup? It was neatly wound in a circle, but noticed it got all wonky after I took the photo~I kinda like it better, so it's staying that way :-)
