Virginia's View

I was totally delighted to see that Virginia Lu has popped on her VVC Blog with a fun Impromptu Challenge Link-Up Party.
The theme is  "miss you", "hello"... any types of friendship cards and it just so happens, I needed to make a card for a friend just to let her know she is in my thoughts.

I used a very old flower stamp (when Michael's sold them for $1) to create a little garden,  fussy cut them out and added Stickles to the centers. That gingham bow is probably just as old ;-)
The polka dot grass is a Martha Stewart border punch, and the Monarch butterfly (cut off of an adhesive border) also from MS.

Here is this month's Inspiration photo~
Artwork from Chad Hagen:

My card~
I used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers in similar colors to make the curved brush strokes on Water color paper, then spritzed with water and paint brushed to lighten each semi-circle up a bit for my background.  My PTI Butterfly Cover Plate was die cut from Stamper's Select White CS and glued on top. The painted panel was adhered to a Kraft cardstock base.

Create Along With PTI- April 2016

"Create Along With Us" challenge at Papertrey Ink allows us to select something that the amazing team has created during the April release that inspired you.  PTI allows us to create our own version ~ COOL, huh?

Here is a card Kay Miller made and I just love the new Friendship Jar Flowers and the Bold & Beautiful Sentiments from this release.

So I pretty much tried to clone Kay's card *smile* with my Song Bird dies as the flowers and leaves in the mason jar and a wood grain EF under the jar instead of her blue lines  :-)

Sorry for the not-so-great photo of my card, after several hours on the phone with my computer savvy friends and relative,  I had to climb mountains and forge valleys to get this on my computer by emailing it from an IPad because Windows 10 is suddenly~like today! no longer recognizing my Pentax camera as an external device (WHAT?)  I will have to call in my computer guy tomorrow :-(

My Card ~
The stamped images are from PTI "Beautiful Butterfly" set which I inked up in Pearlescent Orange and Archival Rose then stamped onto a white card stock.
I cut a strip of Martha Stewart butterfly borders to add to the corners of the white panel.
Glued the pink cardstock which is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, tied orange/white Baker's twine around that and adhered all to a coral card base.

Happy Birthday!

I am entering the April Challenge at Happy Little Stampers

CASE the Designer - Joyce Mehrberg
This is Joyce's beautiful card

I stamped a very old wood block Hydrangea stamp and PTI's Birthday sentiment with Memento Black ink on white watercolor cardstock.  Using Spellbinder's Labels Eight die, I cut a section from the center of the stamped area and colored this area with Spectrum Noir markers.  I attached the center to foam and attached both stamped sections to the Aqua card base.  It's been quite a while since I tried this technique, but really like how this card turned out.  Thank you, Joyce for your wonderful inspiration!

I stamped Rosie Posies onto my white watercolor paper in Dune ink by Color Box.
Die cut, inked up a bloom, flower buds and leaves from Rosie Posie and then spritzed water onto the flowers to muddy up the blue  colors a bit.  Double sided take was used under the largest bloom everything else was glued flat to the card base for easy mailing.

April Fool's Day Hop

Darnell is at it again!
She is hosting a one-day-only Blog Hop
today ~ April 1st.

Check out her blog for rules and guidelines HERE.

I really didn't have to look very far to find my most recent blooper.   I had just about everything on this stamped image colored in and then added my sentiment.   Yep, that smudgy ink by the lid of my cup is from my fingers which got onto the ink pad somehow...ever happen to you?  No?  Huh, I say!   ;-)

Well, I was running short on time, so fast thinker that I am,  I came up with a "fix" (yeah, that was about an hour later).  In hindsight, it definitely would have been less time to re-color the image!

I fussy cut the Sweet 'n Sassy image  To-Go Cup and Mouse, used PopUp tape and glued it atop yellow/white check PP.  The flowered PP was cut with Spellbinders 'Postage Stamps' die to create a window and glued on top.
