MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE

TEXTURE KISSING

Lizzie is up this week and she is showing us a way to use the Kissing Technique to add texture to our stamped images.  You can check out her video HERE and join in the fun.

I used PTI's Songbirds solid stamps to try this technique.  Lizzie was right about letting the ink dry a bit and using lighter colors...my blue bird has clearly been 'kissed' and the orange one is a little less clear.  My "Musical Score" wood block stamp is the impression on both birds. The Scalloped panel die is from Spellbinders stamped with brown inked wood grain and the leafy EF on the Dove Grey base card is Sissix.  That sheer ribbon is two shades of blue and green.

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
WATERCOLOR WITH DIE CUT STENCILS

Lexi is up on Papertrey Ink with a fun challenge this week. The technique of using die cuts as stencils with watercolors can be seen on her video HERE.

The 'hello' is PTI's Wonderful Words die
The flowers are PTI's Song Bird dies
Enamel dots from Michael's $2 bin (previously the $1 bin!)

Okay, I have to say, this is not my most loved technique.  However, after my third 'creative' attempt, I felt I just had to post this card to the MIM Challenge.
I thought I had some of the removable tape sticky stuff, but who knows where I put it?  So, my hello die was held down by washi tape (not recommended BTW)...I painted each letter with different colors and peeled it back as I went along.
Now, I have to fess up --- the paint splatter is a total mistake here :-(  I got to the first L and when I lifted my brush of the cardstock ...yep, paint splattered!
Okay, remember I said this was my 'third' attempt?  Sooo, I thought, "Why not add more splatter to make this look like I really know what the heck I am doing?"   Of course, in this case less would have been more than sufficient.
Oh well, I will try this again sometime, maybe when I find my removable tape!

PTI- July Blog Hop

PAPERTREY INK
JULY 2015 BLOG HOP CHALLENGE

Take a look at this beautiful inspiration photo, will ya?
Butterflies?  Of course I am playing along!

I used my Beautiful Butterflies die cut from two different patterned papers I had in a 'NBUS' Recollections 12x12 pad called Southern Charm, which mimic the inspiration photo colors pretty closely, no?  ;-)  Gold foil was used for the antenna on three of the butterflies and that's the same pink glittery paper I die cut my "hello"out of.  All of the flutterbys are mounted with double sided tape on a third PP from the same pad, then everything was glued to  Kraft  base cardstock.

Thanks for looking, have a fun day at the Hop!

PTI - Create Along With Us

CREATE ALONG WITH US CHALLENGE
JULY RELEASE

Betsy Veldman's wonderful idea eliminates the 'withdrawal' symptoms for those of us who miss the Make it Monday challenge during Release weeks.
You can check out the details HERE on Nichole's Blog.
This challenge allows us to select something that the amazing PTI design team has created during the release that inspires us to create our own version.
How cool is that?!?  We get to CASE one of the masters :-)

I chose this gorgeous card by Dawn McVey:
I never think to use this beautiful color combo until I see cards that Dawn creates with them.  This is the card I came up with using PTI's Rosie Posie and Song Bird stamps and dies.  The border frame is from Sissix "Framelits Drop-Ins".

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE

 CREATING YOUR OWN CUSTOM BORDERS

I'm joining  Laurie as she shows us how to use nearly any stamp in our collection to create custom borders.  Watch her video HERE and play along :-)

I had a couple of stamps and dies that I thought I would use for this technique, but....can you guess what I ended up using?
As always with MIM challenges, this was a fun card to create ;-)

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
ADDING COLOR TO COVER PLATES

Laura's up this week and showing us her tips for adding color to Cover Plate die cuts.  I like how her pretty card came out and thought I should give this technique a try.  You can follow along with her video demo HERE.

Oh I wish I could have captured how pretty the turquoise shimmer paper is.  I colored the tree/flowers on my cover plate with traditional colors instead of the outside-the-box-colors Laura suggested  ;-)
