MFW - Get Inspired the Pot Pourrie Challenge
OK, I lied this is my last post of the weekend :o)
Here is where you will find Cath's post ~ I'm on my way over to check out the always-fabulous entries:http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/11/card-creations-get-inspired-week-pot.html
I instantly thought of the word "Reflect" when I saw this image on this MFW~Get Inspired Challenge...the "R" monogram, the old fashioned furnishings, the doilies my Grandma used to crochet, the sepia coloring ~ all reminders to "Reflect on the Past".
So, this is what I came up with for a Birthday card ~ and, yes, I do have someone in mind for this one, but won't reveal his name, cause his birthday is a few months away :)
My card ~
I tried to capture the last bit of daylight outside and I think it's staying light a tad longer ~ YAY!
No stamps used here. The words were printed in dark grey (although it looks blue in the photo) from my computer in different fonts and the binoculars and eyeglasses are Rub-Ons from Michael's $1.00 Spot
Card stock: Smokey Blue base card, white and black are from DCWV
Thank you for visiting me ~ I can't tell you enough how I appreciate your comments. This is such a great way to meet new bloggers, donchya think? :o)

MFW - Get Inspired by fashion
Card Inspirations has a beautiful cover this month, but if that isn't enough, MFW has provided a couple of photos and cards from this issue to inspire us even more. Check this one out:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/11/card-creations-get-inspired-week-get.html
I love the jacket's soft color, all I could find in my PP with the herringbone print was black and white , but I have this pretty damask print in green and cream and decided, this would be my inspiration. The lacy border under the tree is my "texture" and my tree top has a brooch-like look to it ~ dontchya think?
My card ~
Cardstock: Base card is Vintage Cream by PTI, Damask PP is a note card from Gartner Studios
Embellishments: Glitter Tree is a Christmas gift tag from Home Elements picked up at Walgreens; Button, lacy trim from my stash

MFW Tuesday Trigger - Partridge in a Pear Tree
Well here I am once again with my last post of the weekend.
The Tuesday Trigger this week has the most elegant color combination that I used as my inspiration for my card. The layered feathers also captured my attention ~ thus, the border punches ;-p
I love the pillow from Crate & Barrel and would really like to copy this exact image onto a Christmas card, but neither a Partridge nor a Pear Tree do I have in my collection of stamps~
My Card ~ click on the photo for a more detailed view
Cardstock: White base card from PTI; grey and pale blue are paint chips from Lowe's
Stamp: Corner Flower is Sudio g from Michael's $1.00 bin
Ink: Black is StazOn
Tools: Happy Birthday, Arch Lattice and Cornice border punches are all Martha Stewart
Don't know why, but I struggle with CAS and this card had many different faces ~ and still may 'change' more before it gets into an envelope :o)

Make it Monday #44- Glitter Masking
Now I love me the glitter and bling, so don't get me wrong here...this was a messy "process" and don't think I will be trying this new-to-me technique anytime soon :(
I really like a lot of the entries for MIM this week and thought I would try this... I wasn't happy with the results and kept tweaking the card, which was taking the glitter off.... ohhhh noooo!
Jennifer's version makes this look easy~unfortunately, not in my Craft Room :o) And to add insult to injury, I had to take the photo in poor lighting cause it is not pitch black outside.
Check out the video and the other crafter's posts this week:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/12/make-it-monday-44-glitter-masking.html

MFW - Tuesday Trigger - Fall Bag
OK, this is my second card for this week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World! Soooo SHOCKING, I know :o!
Check out how creative everyone is here:http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/11/tuesday-trigger-fall-is-in-bag.html
I cut circles (original, huh :?) out of the colored card stock and popped these pretty vellum butterflies from Martha Stewart that I have been hoarding for who knows how long....they are all glittered up already so there was not much more to add. Punched out the "Happy Birthday" with Martha Stewart's punch and glued it on the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments on my first post~I really enjoy hearing from you!

MFW Tuesday Trigger-Fall is in the bag
Moxie Fab World has this fun inspirational photo which I was not too sure about at first.
BUT I started thinking (I know, DANGER DANGER :) and this is what I came up with for another Thanksgiving card.
I took the colors pretty literally and punched out strips of daisies instead of circles. I used a tape runner to adhere the strips to the card diagonally then trimmed the excess off at the edges...have to remember to leave more card stock when taping these strips next time, cause I was poking glue out of the flower holes with a pin which was really time consuming :(
You can still join in here at Moxie Fab World:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/11/tuesday-trigger-fall-is-in-bag.html
My card~Click on the photo for a more detailed look see
Cardstock: Base card is Kraft and the other colors (Gray, Orange, Yellow, Brown, White and Turquoise) are from American Crafts, Recollections & Colorbox)
Tools: Daisy Lace border punch from Martha Stewart

Make it Monday #36
This week on Papertrey Ink the Make It Monday technique is to use regular stamp pads and create a faux watercolor image. The pumpkins are stamped with two orange colored inks then I took a small paint brush dipped it in water and blended to get this shaded watery look.
I was helping a friend with her Halloween Party invites and this is one of the designs I came up with.
My Card~
Cardstock: Stripped DP is from Nikki Sivils "Boo-tiful" mini pad; Melon and Antique White are from Recollections

Moxie Fab World-Home Decor Challenge
This is another challenge from Moxie Fab World's 350 Cards and Gifts Week.
We are to create a paper crafted home decor item to give to someone dear.
You have until midnight EST on Thursday, April 21st to upload your project here:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/04/350-cards-gifts-week-home-decor.html
I make these Note Pads to give along with a Tea gift item. Did you know I worked in a Tea Shop at the Mall selling loose teas and all the accessories that go with it? Haven't been able to work there these last few months, but I still buy tea there.
My Project: Click on the photos for more details. I try to coordinate the note pad colors (see 2nd photo) with the outside cardstock and pencils. I bought a bunch of these note pads a while back at AC Moore and cover them with cut-to-size card stock, type "Things To Do...after I have my tea" on my computer and then stamp a tea cup or tea pot on another piece of card stock. The image is colored and cut out then popped onto the front. I glue a magnet onto the back panel so it can be stuck on a refrigerator door, there is a small piece of magnet glued on the pencil too. Found an 8 pack of these glitter pencils at Target's Dollar Spot.
Cardstock: Purple is from Bazzell; White is PTI
Stamp: tea cup is Stampin' Up
Ink: Sepia from Archival Ink; purple, yellow, lime marker pens; glitter pens outline the image
Embellishments & Tools: Sheer ribbon is from Michael's; Yellow glitter is Stickles
Haven't been on my favorite Blog sites as much as I would like lately, but don't give up on me yet ~ I promise to try and catch up with you all soon. XOXO Helen

Make It Monday #10~Masking with Die Cuts
Make It Monday was a real challenge for me this week.
The project was to use masking with die cuts and I just received my very first PTI die from my sweet friend Lynn.
I won one of three PTI Dies she had as a Birthday giveaway. THANK YOU, Lynn I love my Banner Borders die!!!
Go by and visit her at http://www.millers-ink.net/ and check out her fabulous creations...it's always a trip of inspiration for me.
Stop by PTI's Blog and take a look at the great entries posted, you have until 7:00 AM Monday to enter :o)
My Card~ click on the image to see it more detailed. I made it CAS by using only one layer. I took the die 'negative' and masked off the rest of the card front, then sponged ink on it like Lisa Johnson showed us in her video (only NOT as well as she did), then I stamped the music score over it with all the masking papers still in place. The Birdcage is sitting on top of the border and the little bird is stamped again on bright green paper and popped on with a square to add dimension.
Card stock: White base is PTI
Stamps: Music Score from Stampendous; Birdcage is Studio G; sentiment from my computer using Gasoline Alley font
Ink: Sepia from Archival Ink; Eggplant Purple from Printworks
Tools & Embellishments: Banner Borders die from PTI; Corner Rounder by EK Success; orange gross grain ribbon from Michael's
Thank you for stopping by!

Make It Monday #9 and MFW-Card Sets
This set is going to cover two challenges:
*PTI "Make It Monday #9" which is Heat Embossing. See Dawn McVey's video and add your card here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/04/make-it-monday-9-heat-embossing.html
*Moxie Fab's "The Card Sets Challenge". To join in the fun add your card set here:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/04/350-cards-gifts-week-card-sets.html
My cards ~ Click on the images to see more details
A friend asked me to make some "plain and simple" note cards, no layers of cardstock, no ribbons, no bling, just "plain and simple" for her. Now, most of you know that CAS is just not my gig~I have to keep adding embellishments until...well, it's not a CAS card any longer :o)
However, I think I came up with as "plain and simple" a card as possible...she can take the ribbons off when I'm not looking ;oPI stamped the images of the bugs and flourishes, then added the Embossing Powder and heated with my Heat Gun. Also, cut out the top right corners of the card for a little more detail.
Cardstock: Natural Parchment by XeroxStamps: PTI "Fancy Flourishes"; Inkadinkado "Patterned Bugs"
Ink: Tsukneko, Inc :http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/04/350-cards-gifts-week-gift-card-holder.htm"Pearlescent Orchid", "Pearlescent Purple", "Pearlescent Beige", "Pearlescent Sky Blue"; "Ultimate Metallic Purple"; Filigree Clear Embossing Powder.
Tools: Deco Fan corner punch by Martha Stewart
Embellishments: sheer ribbons from "Shades of Elegance"
Thanks for stopping by ~ Sorry I've been MIA, don't get much time for crafting these days.

Moxie Fab World-Cityscapes Are on the Rise Challenge
Well, I have said this before, but....
Love the challenges over at Moxie Fab World and I think this one is really a cool one. Here's the site to check out the fun cards posted:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/03/cityscapes-are-on-rise-challenge.html
However, I don't have any of those wonderful "Cityscape" stamps that everyone else seems to have :o(
I did find this insert "city scene" paper in with my pile of "savable junk mail, boxes toys come in, sticker book pages, calendars, magazine pages, etc"....the list is very long!
Anywho, here's the card I came up with. Makes me think of the Lovin Spoonful's record "Hot town, Summer in the city..." Must be those bright, warm colors :o) There seems to be some glue on the cars, must be where the toys were stuck onto this insert...we'll just call it 'road dirt' :o)
My card - click on the image for more details
Cardstock: Kraft base card from my local craft store; Orange polka dot from AC Moore; car and cityscape is an insert from a toy car
Stamps: none
Ink: just from my computer to write the sentiment
Embellishments: Bird sticker from a Dollar Store pack; Red and Purple buttons from Michael's; the brown twine is from a Goodwill find (thank you, Carole)
Thank you for dropping tonight!

Of course it did look different in my head, but I thought it would be another cheery card for my friend who was transferred to a different hospital for additional tests.
Check out the creativity here:

PTI Make It Monday #7
The challenge at MIM this week is to create a project adding color with markers or colored pencils to non-neutral colored cardstock.
Your project must use at least one Papertrey product of some kind and add color with markers or colored pencils to non-neutral colored cardstock. See the video using Copic Markers by Jennifer Ellefson here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/03/make-it-monday-7-adding-color-to-non-neutral-cardstock.html
My Card~click on the image to see more details~I don't have any Copics (yet), but I used some markers on pink cardstock and blended as best I could with a blender pen and this is what I ended up with.
Cardstock: White base is PTI; Pink Parchment is Xerox: Raspberry is Bazzill (under the light pink I stamped the flower a second time on this)
Stamps: Fancy Flourishes (background) and Fall Elegance (Sentiment) from PTI: Camilia flower from Martha Stewart
Ink: Pale pink; Sepia from Archival Inks; TomBow Markers #772, 757 & Dove Blender pen;
Embellishments & Tools: Stickles glitter; Sheer Wired Ribbon from Big Lots; Corner Rounder from EKSuccess
Thank you so much for stopping by ~ hope you enjoy your Sunday!

March PTI Blog Hop
For the March Blog Hop over at Papertrey Ink we are challenged to use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way on a project. This could include stitching, wrapping it around and tying it like ribbon, braiding, accenting tags, embroidered patterns or anything else you can dream up! Something completely foreign to me! The only reason I even have floss is because MFW had a challenge a few months back~so now I have a second chance to use it :o)
Here is the site to check out all the fabulous talent:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/ I probably won't get over there until midnight to see all of the creative projects everyone comes up with.
This is the card I made when we got home from my husband's treatment #3. The card is for a dear friend who is in the hospital enduring all kinds of tests. The inside sentiment says "It may seem up hill now~but we know you will have a speedy trip to good health soon!"My card~ click on the image to see more details. I will most likely tweak the heck out of this before it goes in the mail, just don't have the time right now.
Cardstock: White base and stamped image are PTI: The balloons are stamped on scraps of Bitty Dot Basics Patterned Paper from PTI: "Clouds" from AC Moore
Stamps: Bicycle is from Unity's "Following My Heart" set; Wood Grain (road) is from Stampabilities
Embellishments: buttons from Making Memories; floss (strings on the balloons) from Hancock Fabrics
