Moxie Fab World-Cityscapes Are on the Rise Challenge

Well, I have said this before, but....
Love the challenges over at Moxie Fab World and I think this one is really a cool one. Here's the site to check out the fun cards posted:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/03/cityscapes-are-on-rise-challenge.html
However, I don't have any of those wonderful "Cityscape" stamps that everyone else seems to have :o(

I did find this insert "city scene" paper in with my pile of "savable junk mail, boxes toys come in, sticker book pages, calendars, magazine pages, etc"....the list is very long!

Anywho, here's the card I came up with. Makes me think of the Lovin Spoonful's record "Hot town, Summer in the city..." Must be those bright, warm colors :o) There seems to be some glue on the cars, must be where the toys were stuck onto this insert...we'll just call it 'road dirt' :o)

My card - click on the image for more details
Cardstock: Kraft base card from my local craft store; Orange polka dot from AC Moore; car and cityscape is an insert from a toy car
Stamps: none
Ink: just from my computer to write the sentiment
Embellishments: Bird sticker from a Dollar Store pack; Red and Purple buttons from Michael's; the brown twine is from a Goodwill find (thank you, Carole)

Thank you for dropping tonight!

Your project must use at least one Papertrey product of some kind and add color with markers or colored pencils to non-neutral colored cardstock. See the video using Copic Markers by Jennifer Ellefson here:

March PTI Blog Hop

For the March Blog Hop over at Papertrey Ink we are challenged to use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way on a project. This could include stitching, wrapping it around and tying it like ribbon, braiding, accenting tags, embroidered patterns or anything else you can dream up! Something completely foreign to me! The only reason I even have floss is because MFW had a challenge a few months back~so now I have a second chance to use it :o)

Here is the site to check out all the fabulous talent:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/ I probably won't get over there until midnight to see all of the creative projects everyone comes up with.

This is the card I made when we got home from my husband's treatment #3. The card is for a dear friend who is in the hospital enduring all kinds of tests. The inside sentiment says "It may seem up hill now~but we know you will have a speedy trip to good health soon!"My card~ click on the image to see more details. I will most likely tweak the heck out of this before it goes in the mail, just don't have the time right now.
Cardstock: White base and stamped image are PTI: The balloons are stamped on scraps of Bitty Dot Basics Patterned Paper from PTI: "Clouds" from AC Moore
Stamps: Bicycle is from Unity's "Following My Heart" set; Wood Grain (road) is from Stampabilities

PTI Make It Monday and CPS #210

Okay, this card is going into two challenges for this week.

The MIM video over at Nichole's blog
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/ shows a really neat technique this week-- how to use an Impression Plate on only part of your cardstock. This is something that I have done quite often with Embossing Folders and love the finished look.

The second challenge is for Card Positioning Systems. I like working with sketches and this one lends itself to so many variations, I am sure to be using is again.
Check out the DT cards and all the other entries here:

PTI- Make It Monday #5

For Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday challenge this week we are to use some distressing. I haven't used this distressing technique much (okay, never!) on my cards, but thought it would be fun to try it ~ plus, who wouldn't love the chance to win a set of Papertrey Ink stamps ~~
me! me! me! me!
:o! You still have time to enter here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/03/make-it-monday-5-distressing-edges.html

I ended up destroying several pieces of this card and guess I need to watch the video where Lisa Johnson is showing us 'how it is done' a few more times before my next attempt :o(

After stressing over this card for a few days, I managed to distress the mat that I stamped my sentiment on with a pair of scissors and then running my thumb nail across it to curl it up a bit.
I glued one wing of the butterflies and curled up the other to make them take flight.

My Card ~ click on the image for more details

Cardstock: Base card is White from PTI; butterflies are punched from scraps of Bitty Dot Basics from PTI
Stamps: Fancy Flourishes from PTI; sentiment is Penny Black
Ink: Sepia from Ranger Archival Ink
Tools & Embellishments: Corner Rounder form EKSuccess: Butterfly form Martha Stewart; Bling is from K&Company

Thanks for stopping by tonight!

Happily Ever Challenged #15

Ted, from "Happily Ever Crafter" has a new challenge ~ check it out here:

http://www.happilyevercrafter.com/2011/02/happily-ever-challenged-15-tribute-to.html

It is a Tribute to St. Patrick's Day with the Irish flag colors of Green White and Orange. Oh, and it has to have a Shamrock on it too!

As if the colors alone weren't terrifying enough, I, of course, don't have anything Irish or Shamrocky in my vast stamp collection~~but, I do have Heart shaped punches and made my own shamrocks, thanks Ted ;o)

My card (click on the image to see more details)

Cardstock: Base card White is PTI; Green is from DCWV; and Orange polka dot is from Target
Tools: Corner rounder is from EKSuccess and Rope Border is from Fiscars
Embellishments: Hemp Cord is from Tuesday Morning's craft dept; button from a Making Memories pack; sentiment typed on my computer

I made this card as a thank you (hand written note inside on the matching orange paper) to friends who have been so sweet and thoughtful to us while my husband is going though some tough medical procedures (Chemo). I have so many more thank you notes to make and find these challenges give me the little kick-start that I need lately, so thanks again Ted!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend, thanks for stopping by ~~ as always, I appreciate your comments! {{{HUGS}}}

Moxie Fab - Decorative Tape Challenge

This is the last day (midnight tonight) to enter the Moxie Fab Decorative Tape Challenge. OF COURSE IT IS!!!! It's been a little crazy here with doctor/hospital visits since the end of January, but I found a bit of stress relief by joining a few challenges. In this one, Cath wants us to create a paper crafted project that incorporates decorative tape in an innovative way. Here's the link to get some inspiration:
http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/02/moxie-fab-world-challenge-get-daring.html

I don't have any decorative crafty tape in my vast supply of stuff (at least I don't remember buying it if I do :) but I found this Desk Tape at the Dollar Tree in the school supplies aisle. I immediately thought of this cute stamp I picked up at Hobby Lobby months ago and created this birthday card for one of the "littles" in my life.

My card ~ click on the image for more details. I stamped the image on white cardstock first, then on several colored pieces and paper pieced each animal on top leaving some of their parts on the original stamping and using a pop dot to add the colored paper image. Coloring was done with water color markers.

Cardstock: Blue base note card is from Studio G; white mat is PTI
Stamp: Party Animals by Penny Black; Wood-grain Background is from Stampabilities
Ink: Sepia by Ranger Archival; Markers from Sanford; chalked in some blue sky around the animals
Embellies: Alphabets and Numbers tape from Teaching Tree

Hope you are having a great Monday. Thanks for stopping by :o)

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger-An idea in yellow

What a beautiful shade of yellow this door is! Love the glass in the door and window too, that's what inspired me to create this thank you card. I tried to make it look like the flowers outside my window. Yes, here in Florida we have flowers blooming all year round. Such a treat for someone who lived up North for most of my life. The pink ribbon is picking up the flower color in the vase on the table.

My Card (click on the image for a more detailed look see)
Of course, I knew I would not get a decent photo, especially because of the vellum, in the evening darkness on my maple wood desk, but this is what happens when you post challenges at the last possible minute :o(

Cardstock: White base card is PTI: Yellow is from DCWV; Vellum from my stash
Stamp: Impression Obsession; cut up a silk leaf and sort of paper pieced it over the stamped leaves
Ink: Sepia from Ranger Archival; flower in corner colored in with Tombows~glitter in the center from G Studio; sentiment typed on the vellum from my computer
Tools: Border punch (Deco Fan) from Martha Stewart
Embellies: Pink grosgrain ribbon is from Michael's; glue dots holding the vellum down don't show up this much in person (but kinda look like a dew drop on the leaf in the photo :)

Thanks for looking, have a good Sunday evening!
