SAF-Needles

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Pins+Needles Challenge

Oops, I started this tag on Saturday, then put it aside forgetting all about it.
Well, I needed to tie it to a mason jar with cookie ingredients gift I am giving to a friend tomorrow , so I finished it off.
I wasn't going to add it to the Challenge, but it so fits HERE

I used a Template and Stitch-Piercer from Sew Easy by We R Memory Keepers.  I went on line to find a video on how to use these tools ~~ which I've had for 3-4 years :-o

SAF-Finale

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Red Carpet Finale
 Challenge

Well this is my last (and probably ONLY ;-)
Red Carpet  showing!
What an array of fabulous challenges in this year's SAF ~ I had a great time creating and learning from the BEST!
A huge thank you to the entire PTI team for the beautiful inspiration and hard work you put into Stamp-A-Faire 2015.

I plan on visiting many of the challenges again and checking out the amazing posts by everyone within the next few days ~ or weeks :-)

SAF-Make It Work

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Make It Work Challenge
The last challenge of SAF is all about using up some of the bits and pieces (and maybe even rejects!) left laying on your table at the end of the day!
I started out making this card with the idea the dress would be my focal point and I would  create my own background by masking and stamping some images in light gray.  Then I painted in the silver embossed dress with a too- dark color blue that could not be lightened up no matter how much water I added :-(
Tossing it in the trash, it was truly a reject!

I used pale blue water color paint on my 'revised' dress and went with a sparkly designer paper background instead of the DIY plan.  The sentiment is from PTI Embellishments stamp set.

SAF-Runway Inspiration

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Runway Inspiration Challenge

Laurie Willison.made a beautiful card using this runway photo as her inspiration.

I love the colors and design too, here's my version of Laurie's gorgeous card.

I stamped off the leaves from SongBirds stamp set and did the same with pink and red flowers from an old Stampin' Up set (of course had to add the bling centers ;-)
The Boutique Borders: Birthday sentiment is stamped in Black ink.

SAF-Pins + Needles

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Pins + Needles Challenge
Melissa Phillips always makes the sweetest cards, she uses Trinket Pins as a versatile embellishment a lot.  I have had some Maya Road Trinket pins and pearl tipped Corsage Pins for a few years now not really knowing what to do with them.  Watch Melissa's video HERE for some great ideas.

Can you see my Trinket pins sticking out of my embroidered flowers?

SAF-Unconventional

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Unconventional Materials Challenge

In this challenge, we are to create a project that incorporates unconventional materials from a hardware store with a budget of $10.00.  You can use hardware supplies from your stash as well, as long as their retail value does not exceed your $10 budget.
OK, this is not a problem, all I had to do was go out to my garage and open a few cabinets and drawers to find about a million dollars worth of materials!  My dear husband had every conceivable product know to every Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware and several more that have since gone out of business.

To tell the truth, I was totally overwhelmed! It was worse than my craft room, if you can imagine that!

I finally settled on "used" (yes, I said used!) sandpaper ~ worse than my hoarded stash, I tell ya!

I do think the used sandpaper added texture to my sand ;-)

SAF-Mix+Match

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Mix + Match Challenge

Betsy Veldman  challenges us to create a card that mixes at least three different patterned papers, keeping in mind the concepts that Betsy discussed in this video.

I love mixing patterns, so this was really a fun challenge for me.  Betsy gives some great tips that helped 'balance' the technique. Hope I did it justice with my Baby Boy Congrats card.

SAF-Accessories

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Accessories Challenge

Erin Lincoln 's  tutorial shows us how to create a necklace using the Tri-Flower Necklace Die Collection from the 2015 Stamp-a-Faire kitShe goes on to say, originality comes into play when you use flower and leaf dies from your own craft collection on your statement piece.

I made a pin for one of my nieces to wear on her sweaters for school ~  I had fun making it, hope she likes it.   :-)

SAF- Threads: Twine Techniques

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Threads Challenge
Twine Techniques

Within the Threads Challenge, Danielle Flanders demonstrates 10 different techniques to add twine to our projects.
I love twine of all kinds, and have the 'collection' to prove it ;-)
My card uses Danielle's Technique #3:
Wrap twine around an embellishment before attaching to a card

Weather and daylight permitting, my card photos are taken outside on my patio table.  This was not planned, but there is a watering can planter behind this card :-)

SAF-Thread Nests

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015
Threads Challenge

Laura Bassen shares two ways to add "thread nests" to  projects to draw attention to the sentiment or focal point. It adds subtle detail without any bulk. I used Coats Metallic Gold...Laura uses Silver here.

I chose Dawn's pattern for this challenge.  Of course, I can only dream of  the day my cards would ever be near as gorgeous as her's.

PTI-SAF Friday Nite

STAMP-A-FAIRE 2015

 Friday Night Fashion Show

The video shown here is hysterical! Love this fabulous group of ladies and their families!

I altered a white sleeveless tee shirt by sewing on  felt flowers/butterfly from Rosie Posie die/stamp set and a Beautiful Butterflies/Butterfly Layers.  If you look closely you can see a butterfly trail from gold thread that I stitched on :-)

MIM #222

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE

DIE CUT KISSING

This week, we'll join Betsy Veldman as she puts a new twist on the old stamp kissing technique by using a stamp and a die cut instead of two stamps. Another new-to-me technique :-)

You can check out her video HERE.

Click on photo for more details

I used a cover plate (that I can't find on my messy desk!) and die cut it first onto light weight cardstock then kissed it with the leaves from Song Birds.  My first attempt was to kiss the bird stamps, but that didn't show up as well.  The 'thanks' die is from PTI's Swoosh set.  Gold sequins and gold twine from my stash.  You can't see it in my photo, but the yellow panel card is embossed with tiny dots.

PTI Aug Blog Hop

PAPERTREY INK
AUGUST 2015 BLOG HOP CHALLENGE

I think this inspiration photo is so interesting.  I don't usually use a lot of bold colors, so I feel this month's Blog Hop is truly pushing me to be more creative.  :-)

Click on photo for more details

I used PTI Beautiful Butterflies, Beautiful Butterflies Layers, Song Birds (vellum banner) and Swoosh die cuts in different cardstock colors, matching the inspiration photo.  The Base Card is embossed with a Lifestyle Crafts EF.
NOTE: Sorry about the night time shadowy photo,  I just got back from a week in New England to visit family and friends, so I have a ton of blog posts to catch up on ~ but, I promise to visit you soon, very soon :-)

My sentiment and flourishy border is form PTI  Boutique Borders: Birthday stamp set. I used a background stamp from Hero Arts called Flower Outline Leaf Pattern stamped onto Stampers Select White cardstock.

Create Along With PTI

How fabulous is Papertrey Ink?  Instead of missing a MIM Challenge during new product releases each month, Nicole has started "Create Along With Us".  This challenge allows you to select something that the amazing design team has created during the release that inspired you and create your own version.  Your project could use a color scheme that inspired you, a technique, revisit an older set, etc. Pretty AWESOME, eh?
You can link up your entry HERE.

I chose this card that Dawn McVey made to create my card:
Dawn's beautiful card

I used PTI Song Birds leaves and flower dies to re-create Dawn's beauty.

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
DIE CUT MINI NOTEBOOKS

Melissa Phillips has a sweet little summertime project to share.
Watch her video HERE.
These mini notebooks are just as sweet as Melissa herself. They really make a nice little addition to a gift or you can make multiples and package them up as a "Just Because" gift for someone special.
:-)

Click on photo for more details

I used Song Birds die cuts on my flap for this note pad. The Base is Spellbinders Labels Eight.

This is a great project for kids/grands to work on with you.  I definitely will add a few more of these little gifts to my "Crafty To Do" list. In many cases they would make a sweet addition to mailable Birthday cards too I think  ;-)
