Masking and Ink Sponging

Oh my, Betsy Veldman is up on MIM this week and she is demonstrating a technique she has used on a few cards recently that combines masking and ink sponging to create gorgeous layered backgrounds!  Check out her video and amazing card HERE.

I really like this new-to-me technique and will definitely try it again cause I am not so sure I did it right this first timeπŸ˜ƒ.

I cut several Beautiful Butterflies out of Post It note paper that is all sticky on the back in different colors and used pale pink, pearlescent orange and hot pink inks to sponge over my masked butterflies.  Say It Simply: Lovely Birthday was die cut out of Cranberry card-stock and adhered to the card.  Those heart shaped bling are from The Dollar Tree. πŸ’“

I just love how CAS this 'mailable' card turned out!
Hopefully,  I won't find the need to reinvent this
Christmas-card-wheel and can create several of this beauty for the card giving Season this year! 😊

Create Along With Us - November 2018

I am always motivated and inspired by the many challenges out there, but have to say this is one of my favorites from PTI!
You can select a card/project that the amazing Design Team has created during the monthly release and create your own version of that inspiration.  You could use a color scheme, a technique, revisit an older stamp set or ink up a newly purchased one πŸ’“
Check it out and post your card HERE.

Edited to add new photo taken in daylight :-)

Sorry about the distorted colors on my card, it's dark outside and I had to take this photo indoors~I will try to re-take this in the morning.
I was inspired by Melissa Phillips  beautiful tags and cards on Day 4 of the November Release, which you can see on her Blog (click on her name). The stamps and dies she used to create her lovely projects is "Home To Roost".  I had to substitute my Song Birds and a hand drawn cut out of a bird house.  I die cut the leaves out of cream colored vellum and the purple flowers are a die from Darice.
This card will go out to dear friends who just bought a new home.

Creative With Stamps

The Design Team for "Creative With Stamps"
has created another card to share with you Mid Month for our November Challenge ~ Feathers

You can check out the cards from my fabulous team mates and all of the entries from everyone so far  HERE.

Here is my card ~

I printed the Aesop quote onto vellum so it may be hard to read,  it says:   "It is not only fine feathers that made fine birds"

The Peacock Feather is an older wood block stamp from Inkadinkadoo (remember that company?) which I stamped twice then embossed with Versamark Ink and gold embossing power onto a dark teal C/S panel which was adhered to a Cream C/S base card.  The Banner is from a Spellbinder set.  The little wood bird and feather from my stash were sitting on my craft desk, so I added them last minute.  😊

Envelope Bags with Patterned Paper

Here I am joining Lexi Daly as she shares how to make envelope style bags out of patterned paper. This is a  really quick and easy 'new to me' technique for Holiday or any gift giving occasion and oh-so-sweet! You can watch her video and see her cute projects HERE.

My little gifty bag has 4 rolls of washi tapes in it ~it's going to be part of a Christmas gift for a crafty friend of mine 😍

Click on photo for more details~sorry the gold foil did not photograph well.

You may think I don't have any other PTI stamp/die sets ~ I use Song Birds for so many of my cards and projects...well, I really do have others but sometimes you just gotta go with your faves (especially when they are always on your desk top) πŸ˜‰

Actually the PTI scalloped banner die cut at the top of my bag is an oldie called Banner Borders and it has 5 different banner shapes on one die plate.

PTI Transformation Tuesday #24

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY
CHALLENGE #24

I'm  joining  Laurie Schmidlin today as she changes things up to showcase the die cut elements on her card design. Her Holly Jolly card for the September release is really pretty, but I love the remake of it.  She changed the colors, added that sweet Bitty Big pp to the background along with the die cuts from Spruce and Sprigs ~ it changed up the card in such a lovely way!

I like the Tree Poem wood block stamp for the peaceful, comforting effect on Religious or Holiday cards and think it work beautifully  for a Sympathy card.  I inked it up with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink onto Cream colored C/S.  The Oval Scalloped die cut out of Blush C/S like the base card, has PTI's Beautiful Butterfly sentiment and 2 small butterflies stamped on it in the same brown ink. The Leaves are from Song Birds die set.

Painted Brushstroke Backgrounds

Oh my gosh ~ don't you just LOVE to watch and listen to Dawn McVey when she is creating her beautiful pieces of art!

I'm joining Join Dawn as she shares how to paint quick and easy  and absolutely gorgeous brushstroke backgrounds.

You can see this delightful lady work her magic HERE

I used Gelatos with a waterbrush and Spectrum Noir glitter pens for my brushstroke background to PTI's Branching Out leaves and Song Birds dies. The 'happy day' die from Spellbinders is cut from glittery paper for just a tad more sparkle πŸ˜„

My card~
I took the feather challenge quite literally πŸ˜‰ There are feathers on my Flamingo  stamp of course, but I just had to add that 'real' pretty pink polka dot feather also.
