So many fun MIM challenges ~ so little time! There are several of the 2013 videos I want to return to and create some cards ... hopefully, after the hustle and bustle settles down (?)

This week's Make It Monday Challenge is "2013 A la Carte"

This card if from MIM #105 - Glitter Trim

I used a snowflake border punch on the bottom part of cream cardstock, added gold glitter to a strip of paper I ran through my Xyron machine to peek through underneath.
The snowman is stamped onto the card, then stamped again on a separated white cardstock, colored and fussy cut to pop on top.

Dec 2013 Blog Hop

PTI - December 2013 BLOG Hop

I apologize, I am so technically challenged  :-( and don't know how to link multiple photos from the same post on my blog ~ getting a message from InLinkz when I try it, telling me "this is already posted", so I am creating "New Blog Entries" for the last couple of cards for the Blog Hop tonight.

I am now off to check out all of the fab projects from everyone today.  Hope you had a great day  :-)

Merry Christmas!
Hope you all had a Blessed Christmas and spent time with loved ones yesterday.  It's hard to believe another year is coming to a close. Where oh where did the time go?

Here we are entering cards and projects to the last Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  The Challenge is "Tied Up With String".

Here is Nicole's Note:
"Now it's your turn to tie up your next paper crafting project with string.  Tie on a tag, maybe a button or two.  Wrap your card front with several strands in different hues.  Pair string with washi tape to create a banner in all of your favorite colors.  Add knots, braids or twists with string and manipulate it in unique ways."

MIM - heat embossed vellum

Here is one more card for Make It Monday - Heat Embossed on Vellum Challenge.
I used the same Peacock Feather stamp but used Hologram embossing power instead of the Gold...I like the gold on vellum better, although this is a softer look.  The Sentiment is embossed in Detail Black.
The colors are completely off, but it is late, I'm working with inside light and I should retake it in the daylight to see the true colors, which are pretty.

MIM #144

This week on Make It Monday, the challenge is to create a project utilizing heat embossing on vellum. Melissa's cards are always so beautifully layered with lots of pretty detailing on them.
The sample she shows us in this video is certainly no exception.

Now, I have tried this technique before and have not had much success, but ... how could I let a MIM pass by without at least giving it a try?

Make It Monday ~ The challenge this week is to Decorate a Kraft Paper Bag

I'm not sure what exactly triggered this idea to decorate these bags for the treats I will be giving to my friends' dogs this year, but I really love the way they came out.  I almost got carried away, wanting to add buttons, glitter and bling, but I know the dogs are all allowed to open their Christmas presents and I had to limit my decorating to just paper :o)

I am lucky enough to have 4 friends who are dog owners of 6 dogs. Lucky, because I get to enjoy each and every one of them at their houses and then go home without the responsibility of ownership myself for now :-y

The  PTI products used were the White and Black cardstock.  The photos are from an ad from PetSupermarket that I received in the mail last week and of course, couldn't throw it away!

PS: Sorry, I don't know how to include all of the photos on one post and add them individually to Mr Linky for these challenges, so I will post and enter one at a time til I figure it out

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday.
I had Thanksgiving dinner with my Brother-In-Law and Sister-In-Law yesterday (which was fantastic!) and made some cookies to bring over for one of our desserts. When I saw MIM this week, I knew I could use this decorated brown paper bag for my 'cookie container'.

PTI - Blog Hop - November 2013

PTI BLOG HOP NOVEMBER 2013

This is the last house I am building tonight, but I will continue to make a couple more to add to my little town scene :-)
I can envision more snowdrifts on the ground, a few cars in the street, lots more trees, another snowman or two...
This was a fun project! Thank you, Papertrey Ink.
I will be around to check out some of the fabulous houses HERE
that so many creative friends have posted tonight.

Thanks for stopping by, come again, anytime!

This is my favorite house in the neighborhood so far :-)   The large poinsettia plant in front is taking the place of decorated trees and the lights are strung all around the roof line, unfortunately you can't see that in this photo ~ I also added a couple of windows to the sides of this house.  The roof is embossed and the edges are scalloped to look like Spanish tiles...so realistic, donchya think  ;-)

MIM #141

Getting in late on this week's Make It Monday ~ Adding Glitter with Heat and Stick Embossing Powder.  See Heather's video HERE

I die cut the Butterflies, then inked them and added the Glitter to sticky embossing powderYou really want to be careful doing this, I dropped the hot butterfly more than once and picking it up with your fingers is NOT recommended...ouch!

The colors look more muted in real life, also the glitter is not showing up as much.  I will try to re-take a photo in the daylight.

MIM #140- Ink Pad Designs

MIM #140 - Ink Pad Designs

This is another card for Make It Monday's Challenge this week.  See Ashley's video HERE
Of course, Miss Ashley makes this technique look so easy, which it is, but her cards are also beautiful ...I'm still working on that part :o)

Click on the photo for more details
I swiped two colors of the ink pads at an angle instead of straight across for this card.  I used stamps from PTI's Fall Elegance onto a Stamper's Select White card panel which is popped onto a Sissix Leaf embossed panel of Aqua cardstock then adhered the two panels on Kraft card base. Tied a sheer ribbon into a bow along the side.

MIM #140

This week's Make It Monday challenge is ink pad Designs
I used the same ink colors in a different order that Ashley used on her card ~ didn't want to look like I was copying her ;-)
You can watch her video to see her amazing cards HERE.

I swiped the ink pads across the Stamper's Select White card panel, then stamped the leaves and sentiment from PTI's Fall Elegance stamp set, tied Aqua/Cream Baker's twine and 2 buttons around the Wood Grain embossed panel, then popped all the layers onto Kraft cardbase

Make It Monday ~ Stamped Square Frames Challenge

I like this technique of making frames out of stamps that are not frames.  If you want to know how to do this, check out Dawn McVey's video HERE

Once I decided the simple layout I wanted for a Wedding card that I will need in a couple of weeks, this card came together fairly quickly (for me~that would be 1 + hours ;-)

The frame is created with a pretty little stamp from Fall Elegance by PTI which I stamped twice on each of the four sides in White ink onto a Kraft panel.  The sentiment is stamped in Black. The base card is square, so the square frame looks a lot better than my last attempt.

Make It Monday #139 ~ Stamped Square Frames

You can see Dawn McVey's video HERE Her card is absolutely gorgeous and the stamps she used fit together so well ~ no surprise there, right?

I made my frame with the hexagon border from Rosie Posie...It wasn't very balanced, but I kinda like the way the card turned out anyway.  I want to try this technique again with so other stamps...it really is a great way to stretch the use of our stamp sets, isn't it?

Thank You, Cath!

Well by now everyone in this Paper Crafting Moxie Fab World of ours has heard the news ~ Cath Edvalson has written her last post on Friday, November 1st.  Just in case you've been living under a garden rock, you can read it HERE.

These are some of the words your will read in the 300+ comments of that post:
Shocked, devastated, unbelievable, sad, in denial, surprised, unexpected, whaaaat?, say it ain't so, NO!

There are also many comments thanking Cath for all she has meant to us:
the inspiration ~ the humor ~ the poems ~ the amazing photographs ~ the time and energy ~ the eloquent writings ~ the creativity ~ the thought provoking posts ~ the challenges ~ the prizes ~ the lessons learned (both crafty and life) ~ her caring thoughtfulness ~ her appreciation for all the beauty in life ~
and of course ... how very much we will all miss her

There is another post on MFW that went up Saturday where we can add "A Card for Cath"  to tell her how we feel and to wish our friend well in her "new" life adventures.

Make It Monday #138 ~ Inlaid Die-cuts

Betsy Veldman hosts this week's MIM. You can see her beautiful card created on video HERE.

This technique is great for word dies, but I had it in my head to use Butterflies so, here is the card I made.

Click on photo for more details

PTI Products used ~
Cardstock:  Stamper's Select White
Dies:  Beautiful Butterflies

The butterflies are cut out of felt to add texture.  I stamped the Grape Hyacinths on the white panel before placing the dies and cutting them out to give some dimension to them.  The Baker's twine is wrapped around the front panels three times then tied off to the side. I like the way this came out and plan to make a few more with different color combos.

MIM Leaf Wreath ~ MFW TT

I'm entering this card for two challenges:

Make It Monday ~ Dimensional Leaf Wreath Challenge

Moxie Fab World ~ Tuesday Trigger
Enthralled With Fall
I picked up on the leaves in the TT inspiration photo as well as the wood-grain background for my card.
Edited to add photo with sheer ribbon bow, button and  silver twine. It looks like there is pink on the bottom of the card, but it's just a reflection from the pink paper it is sitting on, plus it's an inside photo ~ I'll try to take a better shot outside in the morning

This is the original card, which needed 'something' more.  I'm afraid CAS will never be my style, can't leave well enough alone, ya know!

I really like these leaves stamped in Fall colors rather than using green all of the time, so you may be seeing more Autumn than Summer leaves around here.   ;-)

I have one last set of Holiday Tags to post. These are for Thanksgiving Gifts that I make to give out as Hostess/Neighbor/Friends gifts.   I like to make pumpkin flavored Pizzelles (Italian Cookies).  These cannot be made ahead of time because of their delicate texture, so making these tags ahead of time is great and a big accomplishment for me :-p

I made this card for a dear friend in MA who is always a gracious host and offers me a place to stay whenever I travel to New England.  The Fall foliage is still bright and beautiful so I thought this "Wreath of Leaves" would make an appropriate thank you card.

My trip last week was for my Mom's funeral. It was not totally unexpected, but still a difficult part of life.  I was sad about her passing, but happy she is reunited with Our Lord, my Dad, my brother and all of the family and friends who have gone before her once again.

MIM #136

Make It Monday ~ Textured Stamping

I'm getting in late for Make It Monday's Challenge, but you still have until tomorrow morning to add your card.  Ashley's video shows us a technique of swiping your ink across a solid stamp to create some pattern.

Click on photo for more details

You can see the 'swiped' ink more on the darker Terra Cotta ink than you can on the Pearlescent Orange, but it's there on all four pumpkins.
I fussy cut the two lighter ones and adhered them to the top of the two that are stamped onto the white panel. All of the stems are stamped onto the white card.  There are two colors of the grass that I thought added some depth and the sequins are just sprinkled for a little bit of shine :)
