NEGATIVE DIE CUT BACKGROUNDS

I am joining Ashley as she shares tips on how to create backgrounds using negative die cuts.  You can see her video and lovely card HERE

I still have my Rosie Posie stamp/die set on my desk from last week, so I colored up a few more flowers and popped them onto the inside piece of Shape Shifters: Oval 3 die ~
yes, Cat, it wasn't easy, but I cut it apart  ;o)

I just picked up a new 12X12 paper pad called "Sunday Morning" by Craft Smith at Michael's yesterday and used two of the pretty patterned papers under this arrangement.

I had a few crafty things on my desk from cards I made this week, so put together my take on this challenge by taking "Say It Simply: Lovely Birthday" and cutting the words from four different colors.
The pretty patterned panel with gold foil dots behind the sweet flowers is from DCWV 'Pocket Blossom' paper pack adhered to the Blush Pink base cardstock. Butterflies are from Martha Stewart Crafts and the birdie is from my 3D sticker stash.

Winter Watercolor

I am joining Ashley as she shares ways to design winter watercolor cards. If you want to see her beautiful Winter cards and watch the video, go HERE
I don't have the pretty tree stamp sets Ashley used to make her lovely wintery scene, but I thought this little Pine Tree would do nicely with her water coloring technique πŸ˜‰

Click on photo for more details
Using watercolor paper makes this process easy peasy and I am planning to make an underwater scene next with the additional background panels I made.
The Trees were stamped off a bit for the background forest effect as Ashley shows us and the shadows under the trees are supposed to look like snow drifts.  I used a white pen to highlight some branches and added Frosted Lace Stickles for my snow.
The sentiment is from PTI Beautiful Butterflies.

#346 Challenge- 2018 A La Carte

As we say goodbye to 2018 Papertrey Ink has provided their Make it Monday videos posted in 2018, allowing us to take advantage of a technique or challenge we might have missed.

For my card, I am going to repeat MIM #312.

You can click on this link below and see the original video there.

MIM #312: Framing Sentiments Stamps and Images

PTI Shape Shifters Oval 3, Beautiful Butterflies and Butterflies Layers were die cut out of pastel c/s scraps.

It was fun looking back at the 2018 MIM challenges and creating this card reminded me I should go back from time to time when making cards in different colors, stamps and dies can be either feminine or masculine. I may redo this technique for few more cards. πŸ’“

Deck Your Dies

I am joining this week's Make It Monday with Melissa Phillips as she demonstrates fun ways to deck out and dress up your dies.  You can cut them from glitter, corrugated cardstock, patterned paper, embellish them with felt holly leaves, flowers, gems, stack stamped and die cut images on top of the die or hang them beneath.
See Melissa's beautiful card HERE.
I really should have re-read this post a second time, but started the card early in the week and just finished it to post ~ not quite sure it's exactly what it should be for the challenge, but I like it and it's going in the pile of finished Christmas cards!  😊

Masking and Ink Sponging

Oh my, Betsy Veldman is up on MIM this week and she is demonstrating a technique she has used on a few cards recently that combines masking and ink sponging to create gorgeous layered backgrounds!  Check out her video and amazing card HERE.

I really like this new-to-me technique and will definitely try it again cause I am not so sure I did it right this first timeπŸ˜ƒ.

I cut several Beautiful Butterflies out of Post It note paper that is all sticky on the back in different colors and used pale pink, pearlescent orange and hot pink inks to sponge over my masked butterflies.  Say It Simply: Lovely Birthday was die cut out of Cranberry card-stock and adhered to the card.  Those heart shaped bling are from The Dollar Tree. πŸ’“

Envelope Bags with Patterned Paper

Here I am joining Lexi Daly as she shares how to make envelope style bags out of patterned paper. This is a  really quick and easy 'new to me' technique for Holiday or any gift giving occasion and oh-so-sweet! You can watch her video and see her cute projects HERE.

My little gifty bag has 4 rolls of washi tapes in it ~it's going to be part of a Christmas gift for a crafty friend of mine 😍

Click on photo for more details~sorry the gold foil did not photograph well.

You may think I don't have any other PTI stamp/die sets ~ I use Song Birds for so many of my cards and projects...well, I really do have others but sometimes you just gotta go with your faves (especially when they are always on your desk top) πŸ˜‰

Actually the PTI scalloped banner die cut at the top of my bag is an oldie called Banner Borders and it has 5 different banner shapes on one die plate.

BANNER-IFIC

Joining here with Michelle Leone as she shares inspiration in using your paper crafting supplies to create a fun banner for the upcoming holiday season.  You can see the instructional video and the beautiful banners Michelle created HERE.

We can make a project utilizing our take on the challenge like Michelle shared in the video, I spotted a card at the end, so here is my take on this week's MIM 😊.

My card ~
See the party banner?  I stitched the die cut flags together and adhered it to the base card across the top of those cute
PTI  'Sweet Baby' animals and 'By The Numbers' stamps/dies for this 3year old's birthday.  The base card is embossed with a sort of banner design also.

I don't make shaker cards often, but this was totally fun and I love the way it turned out. Thanks Lizzie for the great instructions and video~I will definitely leave my (oh so many) sequins out on my desk to use for more shakers in the near future! 😊

I followed the video directions pretty closely here.
Stenciled the background with pale blue ink onto the white panel with a Heidi Swapp flower stencil.
The Scalloped Framlet is a Sizzix die cut using PTI Stampers Select White cs.
The medium size of three butterflies is cut from PTI Butterfly Cover Plate out of Shimmery Aqua paper (which kinda looks like a bow, maybe).
All panels are adhered to White card base

Melissa Phillips has a photo tutorial which you can view along with her absolutely beautiful packaging HERE.

My pillow box package  is decorated with 'Spiral Bouquet' flowers and leaves (which, btw resemble tea leaves 😊).  The tag (Marvy Punch) has 'thanks' from Swoosh and leaves from Gran's Garden die cut from black card stock, 'Scribble heart' is from Tim Holtz.  I was able to put 6 tea bags in this little gift pak going to my neighbor who picked up my mail for 4 days while I was out of town.

Those Leaf Prints, Gratitude, and Wood Slices Laurie used are so pretty.  I tried to keep the falling Autumn leaves theme going by embossing my Darice 'Leaves and Acorn' dies and a wood grain embossing folder, my heart is cork instead of wood and the sentiment is a stamp from PTI Spring Woods set.

Had to use my Song Bird πŸ˜‰ perched on top of the Branching Out leaves which are set on the 'Musical Notes' die cut from Darice.
I backed the music notes with sticky paper like  Lexi showed us in her video HERE.  The glittery sparkley powder is pretty in real life, but it's cloudy and getting ready to rain at my house, so my photo doesn't reflect that well.

But, her it is and I really love this card ~ just wish I had done a few at the same time like Dawn instructed in her video!!

The die cut bird and stamped leaves are from PTI's Song Birds
The corner die cut from white cardstock under the bird and happy birthday is a thinlet from Tim Holtz 4-piece set
