SAF-Ancient Rome

STAMP-A-FAIRE

ANCIENT ROME CHALLENGE #1

I bought a Spellbinder die that is a Laurel wreath today and I wanted to enter another card in the Ancient Rome challenge.
Actually I wanted to post this in the blog hop challenge too, but it's too late on the East Coast.  Plus the fact I am sooooo tired and
really needing to get some sleep.

SAF Renaissance challenge #4

STAMP-A-FAIRE
RENAISSANCE ERA - CHALLENGE #4
Again, improvising the wax seal challenge.  I never did find that wax stick I know I had so here's what I came up with.

click on photo for more details
I took two chipboard buttons and glued them together, then I added embossing ink and gold embossing power a couple of times.  My 'seal' is a decorative black vintage button which I smeared with Gold Metallic Paint.
My basecard is PTI Stamper's Select White cs, next is a metallic gold piece of cs then the PTI Black cs is embossed with the 'Script' embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  the royal color purple grossgrain ribbon is tucked and tacked under the gold cs.
I intend to use this as a note card, so no sentiment on the front.

STAMP-A-FAIRE
RENAISSANCE ERA - CHALLENGE #3

I thought when I was buying supplies for the SAF challenges, that I surely had a piece of velvet and I knew I had one of those Sealing Wax Sticks from, well almost when the Renaissance era was in style. But, alas, I couldn't find either the wax nor the velvet (unless I cut up a dress that was hanging in my closet from that fashion time).  So I'm totally improvising here because I just couldn't bring myself to NOT post a card to Nichole Heady's beautiful segment.

The medallion was fussy cut out from a 'Specialty Pattern'  piece of  paper I've had in my stash from a local Craft store that is long gone.  It has a look of fabric to me and some Royal designs on it.  The Sentiment is from PTI's Spiral Bouquet stamps and is embossed with the finest gold money can buy ;-)

CLOSING CEREMONY

What a great couple of days of crafting with you all!
I took a photo of my Craft Room before the festivities "began" and posted it.  This (shamelessly taken)  photo was taken Sunday morning, not quite an  "after" shot,  I just needed to clean up an area of one desk so I could continue crafting on.  :-)

SAF-Time After Time challenge

STAMP-A-FAIRE
TIME AFTER TIME CHALLENGE

This is the final challenge of  Stamp-A-Faire 2014.  We are to create a new card inspired by one of our original creations.  It certainly was easy for me to find an old card I made, because I never throw anything out :-)

Click on the photo for more details

The card on the left is a Birthday card I made for my husband in 2003. I embossed the daisy stencil several times inside and out on my Light Box and colored them in with my then obsessive Chalks collection.  The teeny butterflies (total of 9) are a dollar store punch that I colored with different chalks and glittered up with my other obsessive collection of Stickles.

Now,  I'm not sure my style of card making has improved all that much, but I do know I have a much better collection of stamps, ink, cardstock, glitter, and ribbon... all the while keeping this "old stuff" too!   LOL

THE 1980'S CHALLENGE #13

Lexi highlights the bright rainbow colors of this decade.  Also have you noticed the 80's comeback at the Mall as she mentioned?  I have!

I die cut my Beautiful Butterflies in rainbow colored cardstock and adhered them to the front of my Trapper Keeper.  the top three are popped on with dimension tape and one side of the wing is lifted.  The inside will have a pocket for a gift card which is going to be sent as a thank you to my friend.

SAF-Challenge #11

STAMP-A-FAIRE
THE 1960'S CHALLENGE #11

Erin's designs really fit the 1960's Mod-era.

My fondest  memories of the 1960's were the mini skirts, the Beatles, teased bouffant hair styles and the color scheme of Avocado, Burnt Orange and Harvest Gold in home decor ~ Yikes!

Click on photo for more details
I didn't trim my top and bottom circles like Erin did, because I like the look of embellishments off the card edge~just have to use a larger envelope sometimes :-)

SAF - Challenge #10

STAMP-A-FAIRE

THE 1940'S CHALLENGE #10

Betsy Veldman creates the most beautiful cards ALWAYS.  Her designs for this challenge had me trying a symmetrical design (I never do anything symmetrical) so this was another true challenge.  I don't think there was bling used in the 40's,  but I just couldn't help myself  ;-)

The words are from PTI's Embellishments set and the cardstock is Stamper's Select White.

Click on the photo for more details of how crooked my design is. It's mostly on the top and bottom where my images kinda went askew :-(

SAF and MIM 177

STAMP-A-FAIRE
THE 1920'S CHALLENGE #7

Heather designed such a beautiful die for the Roaring Twenties, that I would really like to have. This is waaaaaay before my time (thankfully :-), but I was always fascinated by the glitz and glamour from that era and love the old black and white inspiration photos.

I did not have the patience last night to add as many blingy things to my hot-pink-not-clear :-(  Heidi Swapp (maybe?) Gel Blossoms, so these bejeweled flowers will have to do, I'm afraid.  That's a strip of glittery washi tape down the side and the Stamper's Select White panel which is embossed with an art deco looking (?) folder from Lifestiyle Crafts.  My Wonderful Words: hello is the negative onto a dark charcoal piece of card stock, so this card is going into MIM #177~Using Cover Plate Negatives challenge as well.

SAF - Challenge #6

STAMP-A-FAIRE
REGENCY ERA - CHALLENGE#6

Melissa Phillips is so in her element in the Regency Era.  I am in awe of her beautiful cards.  Now I am not a needlepoint nor a  cross-stitcher kind of crafter! I know, I'm stating the obvious here, but in my defense, there is some embroidery thread and a needle involved in making this card (look closely), the fan even has some crosses on it although I am not sure how I did THAT :-o
Can't say that I'm liking this card, but will post it anyway and hopefully get to do another before the deadline (?)

How are you doing with the challenges?  I started out thinking I would try to do them in order, but that idea kinda fell off the grid early this morning.

SAF - Challenge #1

STAMP-A-FAIRE
ANCIENT ROME-CHALLENGE #1

Now I remember buying some Embossing Paste for the last PTI challenge that used it, but I haven't used it since and for the life of me, could not remember where I put it??  I am sure it will show up eventually hiding in a corner of my craft room drawers.  I went to You Tube  and found a recipe for DIY Embossing Paste, which seemed to work just fine and dandy.  The only acrylic paint I found is 'Traditional Tan' (I assume the White is with the Embossing Paste?), so my color scheme for this card is worked around the paste.  The flowers are colored in with American Crafts Glitter Markers, which is pretty in person.  The Black ink smudged a tad from my rubber stamp ... but I'm going with "it's a handmade card!"  I like the texture it gave the panel under the Iris flower.

Stamp-A-Faire 2014
Friday Night Meet & Greet

Hey there, are you ready for Stamp-A-Faire?

I cleaned off one of my Computer/Craft room desks and took this photo. The other side of the room is a total disaster...should I post a pic of it?  Oh heck, why not!

Clean desk side - click on photo for enlarged look

Messy desk side ~ click on photo for...NO, never mind!

I still have to pull out some craft supplies to get ready for a weekend of Stamping F-U-N before I call it an early night.

I am participating in a 5K walk/run tomorrow starting from my church at 7:30AM.

Hope to see you all throughout the weekend!   :-)

MAKE IT MONDAY
USING COVER PLATE NEGATIVES

This week we join Laurie Willison as she shows us how to create amazing backgrounds using the leftover negative pieces from Cover Plate dies. She has some fun tips and tricks in her first MIM video  HERE.
I used the Wonderful Words:  hello for my 'negative' on this card
for the MIM challenge.

This is a thank you for your hospitality note card to my dear friend who allowed me to stay with her on my trip to MA and ME last week, so I need to get this card in the mail today... don't have any press an seal in the house and kept dropping the little "e" and "o" centers on the desk or floor, it really really really took a long time to finish, but I am pretty happy with the end result.

The 3D flowers sticker and kraft background panel of DCWV "Garden Patch" have shimmer and  glitter, but I couldn't capture it very well in the picture.

Another MIM card...more butterflies :-)

Now, I just luuuuvvvve my Beautiful Butterfly stamps/die set (you probably guessed that already, huh) but I really want/need/have-to-have the larger, more detailed set "Life Is Beautiful".  It is high on my Wish List and think it would be fabulous for this border technique.

Hope you have a great weekend!

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
CREATIVE CARD BORDERS USING NON-BORDER DIES

I am seeing so many wonderful dies used in such creative ways here on the MIM challenge this week. Danielle made a beautiful card (HERE) that I wish I could duplicate, but don't have the sweet stamp/die set she used, so I am going with my Beautiful Butterflies.
Click on card for more details
I must admit this card looked a little different in my head, I thought of overlapping (by masking) the three butterflies, but one one comes though that way.  This was more CAS before the washi tape found it's way down the side...still a lotta white space ~ for me!
So you can see I'm trying  ;-)

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
CREATIVE CARD BORDERS USING NON-BORDER DIES
Okay, I admit it, I am becoming obsessed with this week's MIM.  Thanks to Danielle's easy-to-follow video, it is really a fun technique. Check out all the amazing cards being posted.
If you have visited my Blog before, you know I can't do CAS, try as I might ~ it just ain't a happening. I have such a hard time leaving all that 'white' space and can't seem to stop myself from adding the "missing something".
Well, I am thinking there may be a slight breakthrough!!!  Does this card qualify for CAS?

Click on photo for more details

Okay...
I wrote this post when I finished my card late last night but couldn't get a decent photo! Sooo, this morning, in the light of day, I added the bow and the sequins.  I guess that means the CAS style has eluded me AGAIN! :-)

MAKE IT MONDAY CHALLENGE
CREATIVE CARD BORDERS USING NON-BORDER DIES

I love Mondays and can't wait to check out the new challenge on Nicole's Blog.  This week you can join Danielle Flanders as she demonstrates in this video how to create shaped borders on your cards using non-border dies.

A huge thank you to the very talented and very sweet Miss Danielle for reminding me to use this beautiful technique. It's always so inspiring to visit her Blog too.

I am pretty happy with the way my card turned out and plan to flip through my dies in the hope to post a couple more this week.  :-)

This week, Ashley shares how to use your stamps to create wallpaper background designs.

I needed to get started on a couple of Baby Girl cards I will be needing in a couple of month so here is my idea using this fun
technique.

It's overcast outside so my camera used the flash and the colors are deeper and 'different' than in real life.
The base card stock is salmon ~ the word' baby' and the sweet lion are pink which looks purple in my pic   :(
