PTI Blog Hop-Feb 2017

The PTI February Blog Hop inspiration photo is full of  rich, deep hues and pops of gold metallics.  I spy a couple of heirloom diamonds in here too.  The colors include pinks, purples, yellow, splashes of red and orange. We are challenged to create outside our comfort zone...I think this month mission accomplished 😏

Nicole's Challenge:
The design team has shown us sample cards of Past and Present and now it's time for the Future of these sets, which is all up to YOU!
-Do you already own any of the five sets that were highlighted today? Time to dust it off and make an all new project using it!
-Don't own any of today's showcased sets? Draw inspiration from any of the projects highlighted in today's post and adapt a Papertrey set that you already own.

 My Card ~
I had to create with Tulip Time and a Butterfly embossing folder split to show off the lovely sentiment.  I didn't CASE anyone, but there are some gorgeous Design Team/Customer cards that I am inspired by and definitely will  check them out at another time 😉

I don't know about you, but I have added soooo many more stamps and dies to my Wish List from all trips back in time checking out all of the amazing sample and posted cards! 💖

Go HERE to see the 2016 entries.

I thought I would CASE Laura Bassen this  time.  Her Sweet card features one of the five sets highlighted, Baker's Dozen.  That one is on my Wish List 😊   Check out Laura's card HERE.
I used my  Cake Plate and By The Numbers dies to create a fun birthday card for my Niece Olivia...can't believe she is 14 this year!💗

My Card~
I just had to make a card with my all time favorite stamp/die set for 2014......yup......Song Birds!
I tried to make the background with ink splats on glossy paper like Debbie Olson did HERE, but that failed miserably   :-(
Sooooo, I went with a blue and green ink splatter instead.  I will definitely try Debbie's technique at another time, it really look cool.

I was inspired by Maile Belles card and tried to create this using her layout. You can check out her card HERE.
I veered off a tad, but in my mind, this is close ;-)
I do like how it turned out.

My Card ~
Nicole inspired this one.  Her beautiful card paired two stamp sets: Embroidered Blooms and the sentiment from With All My Heart from 2012 which you can see HERE.
I tried to CASE Nichol's lovely colors and created my card by inking up Beautiful Butterflies released this year.  The flourishes are from Embellishments.

Celebrating 2010

Nicole's Challenge:

My card~
Once again my inspiration was drawn from Dawn McVey.  Her card was created using 'Take Three: Summer Stamp Set'.
I don't have the featured sets from 2010, so I improvised using  'Embellishments' (a 2010 set I do own) as a border
and 'Song Birds' to CASE the sweet birds and flowers.
The embossing folder from Spellbinders was added as a  background for some texture.

Celebrating 2009

My Card~
This inspiration came from Dawn McVey's sweet card for the 2009 post.  I don't have the featured stamp sets, but I do have the much loved and well-inked 'Fancy Flourishes' and 'Fall Elegance' sets.
The sentiment is from Spring Woods.  It's certainly helpful to have a few Sympathy cards on hand, because creating them at the time of need is often very difficult for most of us.

Celebrating 2008

My Card~

I was inspired by one of  Nicole's cards where she used one of the featured sets from 2008,  "Out On A Limb"
I don't have that set but stamped the limb, flowers, leaves and sentiment from Spring Woods for my version.

I own Spiral Bouquet which you can see is one of the "Past" featured cards on Nicole's Blog today~which you can see HERE.
WOW! What a great surprise and honor to see my card there 💖

No need to dust off this stamp set for a "Present" day card, it is still a favorite. 😊

NBUS #10-Card 2

Here I am again with another card for NBUS #10.  I made this card for my BIL's Birthday.  He has a beautiful fish pond in his backyard with the largest Koi I've ever seen and since I like to make theme-related cards ~ this seems to work for him  👨 (yes, I know my fishies don't look like Koi).

MAKE IT MONDAY

Pattern Play With Die Cut Silhouettes

This week, Lexi is up with her take on mixing patterns on your die cuts!  Check out her video HERE

Click on photo for more details

I'm not 100% sure this came out as good as it could have and really looks too busy for me, but the Song Bird dies look pretty in any color or pattern (just sayin') ... so I'm posting my card.  😊

Truth be told,  I think the Beautiful Butterflies would have been a better choice for this technique and will give it try using them next time.
