PTI - February 2013 Blog Hop- card #7

Papertrey Ink - February 2013 Blog Hop
 Marvlous Monograms

I haven't had time to check out too many of the beautiful entries posted, but will definitely go hopping and gaze about.

This card was made a while ago for my friend Louise's Birthday. I used a pretty woodblock stamp that I've had for years...but never bought the whole alphabet because I really didn't have the space to store them at the time.   The local Craft store I found them in has long since gone out of business ~ Would have loved to use them for some personal monogrammed cards for myself, but no "H" or "F" in the few that I do have ... bummer!

I glued some purple cardstock on the back of the printed paper for the butterfly so I could glue down one side and lift the other to give a feeling of movement here

I like these colors together, but they strike me as kinda 'bold' and think I may just add a "b" to the "h"and  turn it into a masculine birthday card  :o)

MIM #104-card 4

Soooo, I just keep thinking of more cards that need these cute homemade pinwheels as seen on Ashley Cannon's  VIDEO at Papertrey Ink's MIM this week.

PTI products:   Heather Nichols Anniversary image download and the DIY pinwheel liner is PTI's Polka Dot Parade patterned paper.
This is a masculine birthday card, so I kept the frilly down to a minimum. However, the pinwheel is a flower here :)

MIM #104 - card 3

I don't usually do this (cause I guess I enjoy 'recreating the wheel' every time I make a card) but while I was making the tag for the gift bag, last night (see my previous post), I decided to use the same basic colors, papers, pinwheels and supplies that were all over my desk for a card that I need to mail to my brother.

Make It Monday's video is all about DIY pinwheels and it is just too cute not make a bunch of cards for any occasion :)

The pinwheels are made from scraps of PTI patterned papers "Bitty Dot Basics"  and the sentiment if from Spiral Bouquet stamps, also PTI

MIM #104-card 2

Back at Make It Monday with more homemade pinwheels.
Check out the fun video by Ashley Cannon on Nicole's Blog HERE

I made this Gift tag on a "Hostess with the Mostest" gift bag for a friend who had a lovely dinner party last night.

The gift bag was plain kraft, so I went with Kraft paper on brown cardstock with splashed of Raspberry.  Made the pinwheel with Swiss Dot embossed square, tied Raspberry Baker's Twine through a button and glued it onto a brown cardstock "stick" .  The tag is tied with the same Baker's Twine onto the grossgrain ribbon handle of the bag which was attached with metal grommets.
The Sentiment stamped in Raspberry Pink is from Spiral Bouquet by PTI.

MIM #104

Today is a new Make It Monday Challenge over at Papertrey Ink.  Ashley is hosting the video and she is making the cutest little pinwheel embellishments. We are to create handmade pinwheels and add them to a card or project.
I am always up for a Challenge, so here goes :)
My pinwheeel has two patterned papers from PTI glued together like Ashley showed in her video.

I was thinking of being outside with a warm breeze blowing my pinwheel against a bright sky :o)

PTI - 6th Anniversary - card #9

It was really fun to CASE some of the Design Team's cards in PTI's Team and Project Favorites for Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary Celebration.  I have one last entry~it is one of Betsy Veldman's, her cute flip flop card shown here:

My Card ~ click on the photo for more details ~ sorry it is late and this shot is an inside photo with shadows :(
I will try to take a better pic in the morning so you can see how much more vivid the colors are.

The base card is Stamper's Select White from PTI
Sentiment stamp is Spiral Bouquet from PTI

PTI - February Release #2 entry

I have another entry for today's challenge over at Papertrey Ink.
We are  to Create a homemade accessory of some sort.  This could include fabric flower brooches/pins, felt flower adorned headbands, jewelry, hair clips or bows.  Nicole has introduced "Boutique Accessories & Clever Barrettes" there are beautiful projects by the design team...  You can check it out HERE.

Made a card out of pink marble cardstock and stamped a little Fancy Flourish from PTI under the greeting.  Cut an oval with my Marvy punch and put two slits in it to adhere the Hair Clip in place.

The pearls had enough adhesive on them to stick, but I attached the felt butterfly to the silk leaves and Daisey flower to the hair clip with my glue-gun .  Had to dig it out of the closet in my craft room and dust it off~it's been a while since I used that crafty tool  :)

Today's challenge over at Papertrey Ink is  to Create a homemade accessory of some sort.  This could include fabric flower brooches/pins, felt flower adorned headbands, jewelry, hair clips or bows.  Nicole has introduced "Boutique Accessories & Clever Barrettes" and the DT has an array of beautiful projects.  You can check it out HERE.

I came up with a felt flower pin that I mounted onto a card ~ the bulk and size of my card would really need the new mailer die that PTI has designed and features today :)

The stamps on the cover of my card are Fancy Flourishes by PTI

PTI - 6th Anniversary-card #8

Yep, another card for the PTI 6th Anniversary The Design Team Faves.  I chose one more of Heather Nichols' card designs.

Heather's set of note cards

I CASE'd Heather's cards pretty closely, why mess with perfection, I say ;)

Cardstock:  Base card is Stamper's Select White by PTI; Kraft;
PP is from Jack n' Jill paper stack from Prima
Stamps:  Trees are from Inkadinkado; Long Writing Background from Hero Arts
Embellishments:  Twine, Buttons, made the bird from white glitter paper

PTI 6th Anniversary - Card #7

Here's another card for the PTI 6th Anniversary-DT Faves, This time I chose Heather Nichols.  Her pretty water color made me think I could possibly come close to duplicating ~ Yeah...not so much!  I tried her technique with the flowers on my card, but then misted water over the inked leaves image.  I don't have the flower stamps from PTI to pull this one off, so maybe my next purchase should be this set Heather used (?) Problem is, there are so many beautiful flower stamps by Papertrey Ink, it's difficult to decide which ones to buy!

PTI - 6th Anniversary card #6

I can't possible hope to duplicate any of Melissa Phillips beautiful style cards, but I really like this one of her "Favorites" so for the PTI 6th Anniversary- the DT favorites.   I chose this one:

I tried to place my journal tag,  felt flowers, buttons and pearls kinda where Melissa did on her card.  Although it's not quite up to her standard, I like the way my card turned out.

My Card ~ Click on the photo for more details
I am not sure what occasion this card will be used for, so no sentiment stamped on it yet.

Cardstock:  Base card is Stamper's Select White by PTI; Print yellow is from My Mind's Eye; ledger journaling tag is from Studio 112
Embellishments:   Pearls, felt flowers and silk leaves from my stash;  emboidary thread and Baker's Twine from Hobby Lobby

PTI - 6th Anniversary-card #5

This is another card for the Day 1 Challenge - Team Project Favorites to be inspired by one of the Design Team’s favorites

PTI - Feb Release card #4

OKAY, I am really starting to like this watercolor technique ~ A LOT! Can you tell?  You still have time to enter today's challenge on Nicole's Blog  HERE

This is another card using brush strokes of paint behind my stamped images, plus a little splotch up in the left hand corner, which looks like a mistake...it was actually supposed to be there when the cream colored panel was vertical instead of cut down to fit horizontal ;o)

It is pitch black dark outside, so I have to use inside lighting ~ which is B-A-D, sorry!
The cream cardstock is much paler and the pink in more pastely in person.

This may be a Valentine card cause I just realized it's coming up rather quickly~like Thursday!  :)

Stamps:  Spiral Bouquet by PTI and Heartthrob by Close To My Heart

PTI - Feb Release-card #3

Here's another Watercolor technique card for Papertrey Ink's Challenge today on Nicole's Blog.

I hope to get by everyone's entries at some point....so much to see, so little time :o)

I tried the heat embossed version of this watercolor technique, but thinking I will try it again on a lighter color cardstock, because this looks more like the Chalkboard technique.

My Card:  click on the picture to see more details

Stamps:   Spiral Bouquet from PTI embossed with White powder
the watercolors are paints I've had forever

PTI - Feb Release card #2

My second PTI Watercolor Challenge card is probably going to need a do-over. It didn't come out of my head the way I thought it should :'(
I used Mister Huey's, Tattered Angels and Ditto glimmer mists to  just kinda splatter on the white panel, colored in the Free download image from Tiffany Pastor with watercolor paint, added some Stickles (because there wasn't enuf glitz :) to it and popped everything onto my base card with mounting tape dots.  The colored pencils in the corner are a cut out from a post-it note :)

PTI - February Release

Once again there is  another challenge up for the Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary Celebration!
Today, Nicole is asking us to Create a project that uses some type of watercolor technique or look.
I love to play around with different watercolor techniques...it is so artsy!  You can play along today HERE

I was moved to create this card by the photos of the dresses in the
inspiration photos :)

PTI - Feb Release-card #3

I made another card for the Free Image Download Challenge the other day, but did not post it in time. So I thought I would enter it in today's CHALLENGE over at Papertrey Ink.

This one uses the colors in Color Scheme #1

Base card is Stamper's Select White by PTI
The Tea Cup image is Melissa Bickford's design on the FREE download this year's 6th Anniversary at Papertrey Ink

I am bound and determined to use up 'stuff' from my hoarded stash before I buy anything new... Wish me luck!
PS:  The doily and clothespin are probably 5 years old :o)

PTI - Feb Release-card #2

This is card #2 I am entering in Papertrey's February Challenge using the color schemes Nicole developed for us in a free download.

I chose Color Scheme #6 because I came across a piece of My Minds Eye PP in my scrap pile that has all of the colors matching pretty closely.
The base card is Stamper's Select White by PTI and that sweet little bird is from PTI's 5th Anniversary image free download designed by Heather Nichols.  I fit  the framed bird into a Making Memories aqua metal frame, mounted it onto the pink panel with pop up squares adding some dimension.  I pleated the pretty pink ribbon (from Michael's dollar bin) and added the Raspberry button tied with natural hemp for a couple of different textures.

PTI - Feb Release

Today at Papertrey Ink, Nicole is issuing one of their popular color challenges.  She put together a total of six color schemes to choose from!  The task is to create a project utilizing one of the color schemes:  You can download these for future use HERE

For my card, I chose color scheme #1

This  'ki Memories Journaling Tag' purchased at Tuesday Morning seemed to have most of the colors in it, so I went with that and stamped a sentiment form Spiral Bouquet by PTI in a bright pink ink ~ the sweet sentiment reflects the photo in my mind :)
The Base card is Stamper's Select White by PTI: the yellow lemon panel is from Paperbilities Scrap Pack; the Spring Mossy polka dot paper is from the Jack n' Jill collection paper stack.  The felt flower and blingy flower are from my stash.

There are five FABULOUS sketches from Nicole today. Check it out HERE.
I'm entering a card for Sketch No. 5 and know I will be using all of these sketches again and again!

PTI - Feb Release

Here is another card using the PTI - Sketch Download.

This card is Sketch No. 3

I thought it would be easy peasy, of course, it took waaaaay longer than it should have.

Anywho, I used Washi tape from Recollections and Studio G for my stripes into a V shape.  Tho clear flower blings are from my stash and the cardstock (True Black and Stamper's Select White) are from PTI.  The sentiment is from Spiral Bouquet stamps by PTI.

PTI - 6th Anniversary

The countdown and Anniversary celebration continues!
Today at Papertrey Ink, Nicole has challenged us to create a card using one of five sketches she developed in a free download.
I love using sketches, it cuts down the "thinking up a design" time a tad :)

I used Sketch No. 1 for this  card.  You can download all five sketches HERE  on Nicole's Blog.

The cardstock is really this bright :) I used an aqua card base, cut squares in the neon card taped it to the base and popped the frogs with thick mounting squares through the windows.  The button has an interesting  wood grain texture, is tied with natural hemp and glued onto the top corner.

PTI products used:
* frogs punched from scraps of Bitty Dot Basics Collection
*  sentiment is from Spiral Bouquet stampset

PTI - 6th Anniversary-Day #5 part 3

This is one more little "Just Because" gift box of 10 tea bags (yummy White tea with Mango) for a friend.

I made the box from a Greeting Card program template, tied it with some well-hoarded silky ribbon (it's a pretty sage green with cram polka dots) and tied Melisa Bickford's sweet cuppa 'free download' tag in a Making Memories metal frame to the bow with white and silver Baker's Twine (found in Target's Dollar Spot!)

I am entering it in the Papertrey Ink's - 6th Anniversary Challenge to Create some type of wrap, tag or gift packaging project ~
which you can check out HERE

I will re-take this photo tomorrow in the sun light.

PTI - 6th Anniversary-Day #5 part 2

My 2nd entry for PTI's Create some type of wrap, tag or gift packaging project challenge.

This second packaging is a sheer bag filled with blank cardstock folded into twelve A2 size cards, matching envelopes and embellishments to "Make Your Own Greeting Cards".  It's a birthday gift for my neighbor's daughter.

Sorry about the inside photo lighting~I ran out of daylight outside :(
The sheer material sack is tied with a drawstring and I added the pretty blue wired silk ribbon bow, then added PTI's Dawn McVey's cute Birthday 'free download' tag.  The tag was punched with Fiscars 1 1/2" round punch and fits into the large round Making Memories metal frame rims perfectly.

PTI 6th Anniversary Celebration

I created another card from Erin Lincoln's Inspiration card and forgot to post it yesterday.

Erin's card

Lord knows I can't for the life of me figure out how to add entries  from the same post here on my Blog, so I am generating a "New Post" :^{

Used pretty much all the same embellishments for this one, except added flowers and leaves from PTI's Spiral Bouquet stamp set and a touch of bling to the flowers and glitter to the leaves :)

PTI - 6th Anniversary-Day #5

This is Day 5 of Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary Party.
Today's Challenge is to Create some type of wrap, tag or gift packaging project.  I created two new tags for gifts going out this week, but I think I could go on forever with this challenge. I love making my own packaging, gift bags, tags, wrap for food gifts, etc etc etc

This first gift box tag is a pair of earrings in a box decorated with silk rose bud flowers, a purple wire silk ribbon and PTI's Erin Lincoln's cute Flamingo free download put into a Making Memories metal tag rim which is tied onto the box with purple and pink Baker's Twine.

PTI - 6th Anniversary-Day 2

Yay! FREE downloads from the PTI - Design Team.  I love the images these ladies come up with every year, don't you?  This Anniversary download is no exception. I always have a good time creating "like the PTI DT"  :)

I just had to use Erin Lincoln's sweet flamingo image for my fashion-ista friend's card and color her in with American Crafts Glitter Markers, added some Stickles to her pearls and the background hearts patterned paper also have a glimmer to them :-}

Sorry you can not see all the glitz in my photo, but this flamingo is really blingy :)

PTI - 6th Anniversary

Happy 6th Anniversary, PTI! Wow, can't believe it's been that long, can you?

I have participated in the Papertrey Ink Anniversary challenges
(as well as each and every month's New Product Release) for the past six years.
I actually had my husband help me create a Blog so that I, the non-techy part of the family,  could enter the on-line challenges starting in 2009.

This year's festivities started yesterday with this Challenge  to be inspired by one of the Design Team’s favorites and create a  card of your own....okay, the good news is you can choose as many as you like, time permitting ~ that's the bad news...wish I had the time to enter as many times as there are DT faves.

I picked Betsy Velman's Chalkboard Technique as my first day's card entry.   Not sure how many entries there will be, but hope at least one each day :-)
