MIM - 118

Make It Monday - Photo Postcards Challenge is so perfect for all the photos I took of my garden flowers a couple of years ago.  I photographed them all thinking they would be pretty additions to my cards one day...well, needless to say, they have been in my craft room collecting dust until Ashley demonstrated how to convert your pics into these wonderful postcards.  See her video HERE

This is a Butterfly Bush which has the most beautiful two tone purple flowers that actually look like a butterfly! Can you see it?  The foliage is such a dark green, that I couldn't stamp my sentiment directly on the photo, so I had to die cut a Nestabilities Label to stamp onto and glued it on a corner.

MIM #118

This week on Make It Monday, the challenge is Photo Postcards.  You can watch Ashley's video HERE
This is a wonderful way to share your photos with family and friends.  I have lots of photographs I took of my flowers that are growing either on my patio or in a garden my husband created in the back yard. Hopefully I can post a couple more.

This is one of my orchid plants (Phalaenopsis) on the patio. One stem can have up to 10-12 blooms on it ~ they love the humidity in FL and bloom for several weeks  :)

PTI - Blog Hop

I chose Purple Bouquet for my final card in the PTI - May Blog Hop

The sentiment says:    "hello sunshine" -- which is a pale colored ink that doesn't show up very well in night time photos, sorry.  The largest rose was die cut out of glitter paper and the I was supposed to trim up the top die cut so more of the glitter outline would show, but I ran out of time to get this posted :(

Here's a Baby Shower gift card I made for Make It Monday-Paper Piecing Challenge. Now sure if it's a boy or girl, so I went with lavenders and greens :)
I stamped the onsie four times and paper-pieced two patterned paper pieces onto the two solid colors. Hung them both on lavender/white Twine with wooden clothes pins. The glittery hearts were punched with a small heart punch that I've had for years.
Sentiment stamp is Studio G and ribbons are from American Crafts.

This is a great technique for flowers, but it is also fun to try paper piecing other images, which I hope to have time to play with this week.

MIM #116

I managed to sneak in one more card tonight "Adding Texture To Stamps" at Make It Monday.  I dragged a comb across some of the petals on the larges Rosie Posie bloom and across the bud on another. I think I like the look of  this technique done this way better than combing the entire flower.

The actual color of card stock is more salmon than orange...I'll retake the pic in daylight

MIM #116 + PFP

This "Thinking of You" card is going in the mail to a friend tomorrow.  It started out to look a little masculine to me with the grey card stock plus the purple and green hexagon design in the background.  Soooo, I added glitter on the comb textured rose (that you can't see in the photo) and the banner border is all sparkled up.  Not sure I will use this technique on flowers again, but I do like it on solid butterflies...maybe there's time tonight for just one more card (?)

The hydrangea from Anna Griffin is stamped in Sepia (for a bit of softness) and at an angle...I'm not sure if it's the stamping or the angle I was taking this photo or the embossing folder called Traffic Jam from Cuttlebug, but I had to take my ruler out to be sure it was straight.

MIM~MFW~PFP

I didn't have too much time for crafting today and tomorrow doesn't look good either.  So I made a card for three challenges and wanted to get it posted tonight.

Make It Monday #115 - Beyond Paper with Impression Plates ~ Check out Heather's video  HERE
 * I used silver lining from an envelope and embossed it with a woodgrain folder
Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger ~ Pretty Little Petits Four ~ link up HERE
* I picked up the pink flowers and silver server and woodgrain from the inspiration photo
Passion for Papertrey ~ Stamp Your Own Background ~ add your card HERE
 * The Flourishes made a nice background which kind of reminded me of leaves swirling around the branch off the tree where the bird is perched.
Note:  my imagination wonders off like that sometimes :)

MIM #115

Hey there,
Had a lovely lunch with good friends at a great seafood restaurant on the water at the Port today.  We have two Tall Ships visiting in Port Canaveral for a couple of days (May 1-12).
I remember seeing them all in Boston Harbor many many many years ago ~ it was an unbelievable sight back then and an event I will always remember.

Well, onto the crafty part of my day.  I made another card for Make It Monday's Challenge #115. See Heather's video HERE.
Beyond Paper with Impression Plates.
I hope to have some time tomorrow to visit some of my favorite crafter's blogs :)

MIM #115 and MFW-TT

This week Make It Monday - Beyond Paper with Impression Plate is the Challenge I've been waiting for. I have been saving this silver and foil paper for years...have no clue where/when/why I got it and only used a couple of sheets, but don't even remember for what  purpose :)
Oh well, I am happy to have a use for it now!
Check out Heather's video HERE

I am also entering this card in Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger Challenge - Pretty Little Petits Fours  which is a three-weeker, so you still have time to enter HERE

This is the inspiration photo for MFW, I picked up on the silver server, pink flowers and woodgrain tray.

the photo was taken outside but the sun was starting to set, thus the shadows

My card is on pale pink cardstock and I embossed the scalloped oval punched out shape with a wood grain embossing folder, adhered pink flowers and lace trim.  The PTI Beautiful Butterfly die was cut from silver and bright pink cardstock which is glued together with one wing left unglued to fold up. I topped this with Martha Stewart's Monarch butterfly punched out of Stamper's Select White.

Make It Monday #114 - Blown Ink Challenge

I keep trying to get this technique down where it looks like something other than a child's finger painting!
Don't think I am going to succeed :(
So I guess, every technique out there in this crafty world of outs is NOT for everybody, eh?

Check out some really good cards posted HERE

Edited to add re-done card

PTI Products:
Stamp and Die:  Beautiful Butterflies

Edited to add altered card.
I changed my card up a bit, by adding another flower to the lower right corner and moved the butterfly dies up to the first flower (covering more of the child's finger painting :)

I die cut tree butterflies, gluing down only one side, leaving the other side kind of  'fluttering'

Cardstock:  Yellow and Teal are from Colorbok, the stamped/inked on panel is a paint chip from Martha Stewart
Inks: Glimmer Mists from Tattered Angels and ditto
Tools & Embellishments:   Scallop border punch and pearls from Martha Stewart; Silk flowers from my stash

MIM #114

This card for Make It Monday's Blown Ink Challenge has a bit more ink blown around on it.  The cardstock is very saturated and bubbling up everywhere even with massive amounts of double sided tape that I adhered to the back before attaching to my card base...perhaps I should have pressed it in a telephone book to flatten it out?
I'm thinking I like my cards better with more ink coverage, although there are some entries posted that look fabulous as CAS cards.  Check it out HERE

MIM #114-Blown Ink

I made another card for the Make It Monday - Blown Ink Challenge. Check out Dawn's video HERE

This technique is not that difficult, why don't my cards look as good as so many of those entered?  Guess I need more practice.

I used Mister Huey's Glitter Mist ink because I don't have pretty colored re-inkers.  I'm getting a lot of splatter from the spray, but I don't think it's a bad look so I stamped the sentiment over it :)
